There are three things that are absolutely fantastic here:1. the apartment is in a historic building, (I believe about 300 years old). 2. It is situated in the heart of Diocletian palace, literally a 20-30 steps from Peristil and Sv.Duje Church. You could not invisage a better location - really. 3. The steps leading to the apartment are very steep and might be a problem for someone with health problems. The appparment is scrupulously clean - it gleams! It has a very well equipped kitchen ( glasses, plates, cups, pots, knives... if one likes to cook it's all there). Bedroom/ sitting room is good size and is decorated in a quirky way. Some antiques, some nice paintings... Bed is comfortable although I would have liked it to be a bit bigger (it's possibly 140 cm wide double bed ). There is TV but unfortunately it has no news channels ( Euronews, BBC, CNN etc.) or any other foreign channels - other than the ones shown on Croatian TV. Not a major thing, after all one comes to see the city, but still one wants to know what goes on in the world. Shower / toilet was functional and worked fine. Shower gel and shampoo are basic and fine. The washbasin, toilet and washing machine are fighting for space (very tight) but it's again a minor thing. Bed linen is changed once a week which I think is not often enough. We stayed 10 days and have aranged to have ours changed after the 5th day. Which was absolutely no problem. Towels are plentiful. The "rules of the house " are clearly written and basically tell you you are responsible for keeping the place clean and rubbish-free whilst residing - thus- making it clear that this is NOT a hotel but an APARTMENT . The AC worked very well and the free WiFi is excellent. Michel, the owner is very responsive to any queries, she is professional, friendly and very likable. Very pleasant stay.

Emperor's Suites was the cleanest and nicest of the five rentals we stayed in on our trip to the cities and islands of the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. We opted for the one bedroom apartment within Diocletian's Palace.
Everything in this unit is spotless and spot on. Michelle has made it a very pleasant experience staying in a wonderfully decorated apartment that is so close to everything there is to do In Old Split.
You enter into the full kitchen which has a table and chairs and bench seating area. Off the kitchen is a modern bathroom with a great shower and a washing machine. A doorway takes you to the sitting area with a nice HD flat screen television, a comfortable full size bed and a great wardrobe.
Both rooms had big windows that opened and during a heat wave you could close them and turn on the air conditioning.
Michelle was so easy to communicate with before and during our stay and met us to lead us to the apartment from the Silver Gate.
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

We stayed in the apartment within the Diocletian Palace down a small alley way and behind a metal gate. This was a great location and very convenient for all our holiday needs.

Michelle, the owner, was very helpful and sorted out issues with our taxi pick up which we do not believe would have been resolved without Michelle's involvement

If you want to stay in the old part of split we would recommend staying at the Emperor's Suites

We stayed for 1 week from 28/6/17 to 5/7/17

Room Tip: Please ensure you contact Michelle on route so she can meet you on arrival

Michelle made us feel very welcome and gave us all the tips we needed, and she was amazing when she hunted down our lost baggage!
Nice apartment with small patio in a quiet neighbourhood, yet very close to the Green Market, Diocletian's Palace, main bus station and ferries.

We stayed in the apartment which is actually located inside the Diocletian Palace so an amazing place to stay if you're into history. After meeting us from our taxi (there are no roads inside the palace & old town) the owner Michelle showed us to the apartment and explained that the steps and walls were part of the original 13th Century building which was pretty cool. The apartment itself is beautifully appointed with a small kitchen so you can make your own breakfasts - Michelle provided jams and butter and there is a supermarket just round the corner. The room has air con and a tv with some English channels - although being right in the heart of this beautiful city there's no time for tv with so much to see. I couldn't recommend this place enough!!
