After having a bit of trouble trying to find Travel Agency Gajeta we were happy to find everything we needed in the ‘Tonka’ apartment (right beside Gajeta). Forget all those instructions to get here - simply follow the road around to the walled city (water on your left), walk to the end of the shops & restaurants (on your right) and turn right on the main road Marmontova (pizza place at corner), go half way up the block until you see a green pharmacy sign which is lit (left hand side road) turn left and keep walking until you pass a bar on your left and look up to see the sign Gajeta. Voila!

At the office we met a lovely man (Jerko) who gave us lots of information, helped us with our bags and showed us our apartment. Jerko provides his contact info should you need any other assistance.

5 star:
- Washer with water extractor! What traveller doesn’t love to be able to get their laundry done? You also hang your laundry out the window in the clothes line like the locals.
- location is primo
- wifi: another necessity.
- well stocked kitchen with dishes, micro, kettle, stove top & dishwasher (with tabs).
- air conditioning in living and bedrooms.
- good shower with lots of hot water (mind when someone turns in a tap though - gets cold or hot depending)
- table chairs.
- sound-proof windows (you will need it for those late open pubs).
- clean

Small Issues:
- flat screen tv in bedroom but didn’t work and no instructions. We could have asked but didn’t bother just gave up.
- exposed wires in bathroom.
- dirty or stained luggage cover on bed
- Safe: well we truly laughed at this. There is a small safe but it isn’t connected the anything. I brought it out to show my husband.

This apartment provided all our needs for an average nightly price. If you are looking for higher end, be prepared to pay more in this fairly expensive City.

- make sure to eat local burgers (have the sausage and red pepper sauce) next door at Kantun Paulina - you will go more then once.
- don’t pre-book tours but go to harbour to check them out and see what prices are.

We booked a room and got an apartment - you think the name would have been a giveaway, but somehow we didn't realize. It was an awesome stay. Location is PERFECT, and so much space, we didn't even need it all. The staff were so nice and helpful. Gave us so many suggestions and tips. Would most DEFINITELY return.

Stayed for a night before moving to a different place inside Diocletian's Palace. The apartment we were put into was clean but had not been updated for awhile.

The location is what makes these accommodations very desirable. The Palace walls and all the fun stuff inside is well within walking distance, as are some of the beach accesses. Many other restaurants are literally steps away from the Apartments. Good budget option.

We stayed two nights in Split at the end of a driving holiday through Croatia and Bosnia. We were very pleased we paid from memory just an extra 20 euros to secure the excellent apartment with the double bed and a separate single. The layout was great, with a spacious kitchen and dining area leading into a living space on the lower level leading out onto a lovely roof terrace, and the bedroom with ensuite on the upper. Potentially the size of the apartment and comfort and length of the sofa was such that four people would have easily been accommodated, so for just two of us it felt very roomy.

Room Tip: Three bed space room with the terrace is the one to go for.

We booked as it was only a minute from Diocletians palace and for the good reviews and we weren't disappointed. The apartment had a small kitchen/diner, one decent sized bedroom and a bathroom, with a washing machine and a line to dry clothes outside the window.

The staff helped book a transfer from airport and a trip to Krka waterfalls and both were well organised, particularly the trip to Krka which was run from the tour company underneath our apartment. They also gave some tips and marked out some must-dos on a map. One was a walk up Marjan and trip to Kasjuni beach which ended up being highlights of our trip.

There was a bit of noise from a bar below the apartment and we didn't get much natural light but that was to be expected being so close to the centre of old Split.
