Owner description: Galerija Meštrović houses the masterpieces of Ivan Meštrović carved in marble, bronze and wood. The house was built based on Meštrović's design (1931 - 1939), and was intended to be his family summer residence, working studio and exhibition space. It is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden which, with its bronze sculptures and the view of the sea and of central Dalmatian islands makes a unique example of landscape architecture.

Although this is a 20-25 minute walk from central Split, this museum was well worth it. The museum is beautifully situated with lovely views. We enjoyed soaking in beautiful sculptures from a bench while soaking in the sun before exploring the interior. Around every corner a piece would take my breath away. Very emotive. In particular I was impressed by how his religious subjects drew me in and felt very fresh and different despite them being common subjects. The only thing I had heard about Mestrovic before visiting the museum was that Rodin had thought highly of his work. That was enough to make me want to visit, and I'm so glad I did. Just lovely. The church down the road was a nice short visit as well. I should note that while I loved it, my teenage sister was less excited by it.

The galery/museum is in it self would need little more love and care. But the art is amazing. Mestrovic captures every detail of the human body in his sculptures and shows great emotions at the same time. Visiting this place was a recommendation from a local and I am so glad that I wenr. The ticket was 40 kuna and you also get entrance to the nearby chapel with his more religious work.

We enjoyed his work tremendously, both the sculptures in the garden and in the museum.
Outstanding concept of the human body and understanding of suffering and joy, which comes out in every piece.
Highly recommend.

We did not know anything about Mestrovic before visiting the gallery and a church down the street ( with his wood carvings) and were simply amazed by his sculptures. Also, it is a beautiful walk to the gallery along the sea shore and thru the forest. highly recommend!

It's next to the big green hill, this is guy who made statues with the shine toe in center. Some very interesting sculptures, before entering on the right is huge one: one eye man.
