Owner description: Galerija Meštrović houses the masterpieces of Ivan Meštrović carved in marble, bronze and wood. The house was built based on Meštrović's design (1931 - 1939), and was intended to be his family summer residence, working studio and exhibition space. It is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden which, with its bronze sculptures and the view of the sea and of central Dalmatian islands makes a unique example of landscape architecture.

We enjoyed his work tremendously, both the sculptures in the garden and in the museum.
Outstanding concept of the human body and understanding of suffering and joy, which comes out in every piece.
Highly recommend.

We did not know anything about Mestrovic before visiting the gallery and a church down the street ( with his wood carvings) and were simply amazed by his sculptures. Also, it is a beautiful walk to the gallery along the sea shore and thru the forest. highly recommend!

It's next to the big green hill, this is guy who made statues with the shine toe in center. Some very interesting sculptures, before entering on the right is huge one: one eye man.

We had never heard of Mestrovic before visiting Split. But we were very impressed with his sculptures. My two young children were very interested in learning more and spent a lot of time roaming around the large sculpted grounds drawing and taking everything in.

I think I had never heard of Ivan Mestrovic before preparing for the trip to Split. What a delight and surprise to discover a sculptor as powerful as Rodin! You will see his "Grigur Ninsky" just outside the north gate of Diocletian's palace. The Galerija has a hundred or more equally powerful works, expressive of both tender emotions and the effects of the horrendous events of his lifetime.
