We didn't walk up the volcano, but we truly enjoyed waking up to the view of it every morning, and took a myriad of photographs of it. The clouds which surround this volcano are apparently created by steam, which trickles out of this volcano pretty much all the time.

One of the locals told us that this volcano has a heart and soul made-up of the water element, while it's lover Pacaya, the fire volcano rests on the other side of town. The two elements serve to balance each other, just as the sun and the moon are lovers which pass in the night. You've got to love the romance of the local lore!

Volcan De Agua is the Icon of Antigua. You can get to the edge of the volcano by the local "Chicken Bus". The town under the volcano is also a wonderful place to visit. I got to make chocolate and got great coffee under beautiful majesty.

There is a great view of Volcan de Agua from Arco de Santa Catalina early in the morning. You actually can take great photos with the arch framing the Volcano. It's a popular painting to buy in Antigua if you want. The views of Volcan de Agua from the top of hotel de Don Ismael are not bad at all. It is an imposing Volcano over the skyline of the city. My friends warned me not to climb it due to bandidos robbing tourists. I heeded their warnings. Instead climbed Volcan Acatenango with great views of Volcan Fuego blowing in the day and at night.

This trip, I didn't have time to do any climbing. I have three volcanoes on three different continents.
Sometimes she was shy, but we saw her most days standing over us indifferent to what we were doing.

On clear days, get the best views from the tops of buildings. Volcano is impressive, and spookily close to the town.
