This hotel is rated as a budget stay, and yet the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Nothing paricularly special about the rooms, but the beds were comfortable. We rented the 3 bed unit upstairs and very much enjoyed this terrace level patio. Great views of the Volcanos!

A quaint, clean, and centrally located hotel which offers excellent value for money. As previously mentioned by other reviewers they offer complimentary tea and coffee (alas only powdered milk) as well as filtered water. The place is spotless, the rooms small but functional. The wifi surprisingly strong and cable tv that carries both CNN and BBC. The front desk is manned 24 hours a day. Breakfast is available and can get served on their upstairs patio which offers a great view of the surrounding hills including a smoking volcano which regularly puffs. Like all hotels in Guatemala there is a strict no smoking policy but we were allowed up on the upstairs patio to indulge. A pet friendly hotel which maintains a supply of food and water at its entrance for stray dogs is a reflection of the ethos of the owners. I will certainly be back.

Average hotel with small but decent rooms. Free purified water, tea and coffe available 24 hours a day. One of the few mid range hotels that hase a secure parking on the premise. Have stayed here twice and will most likely stay here in the future.

We are thankful for the comments. With mostly positive comments, I would have thought this review would have been more than a 3-star.

Our hotel is a budget hotel ($40 to $65 for a double room), and we are not the Mariott. We offer cheaper small doubles with 1 bed for peopl on a budget. Then, for $10 more, you get a larger double with 2 beds. So, yes, you get what you pay for. Either way, we feel you get a good value for your money. Please keep this in mind when booking a double with 1 bed or a double with 2 beds.

Our hotel is a quiet location for a good nights sleep. We also have a huge rooftop terrace with great views and lots of lounging spots.

Stayed here in September 2016 and had an excellent experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the location was great and the room very clean. I loved watching the active volcano while having my breakfast. I was able to leave some things at the hotel during my trip to Lake Atitlan and then I came back before flying home. would definitely return to this hotel again.

We booked the room using booking.com and didn't have an option to pay in credit card on the website. We wanted to pay using a credit card at the hotel and we were told that the room rate is usd 80 + taxes converted at an exchange rate, arbitrarily defined by the hotel, which was buy at 7.5 and sell at 8. The person at the hotel convenient decided to use 8 to convert the room rate and charge our credit card in Qs. Buy at 7.5 means buying usd at 7.5 and selling usd at 8. The hotel should've used 7.5 and not 8. We went back to the reception and asked if we could pay in dollars since the rate is horrendous. The receptionist took the dollar equivalent (97) and gave us a receipt saying we paid 97*8 Qs. It seems like the hotel prices its room in dollars to charge a higher exchange rate. Keep in mind when you pay using the credit card, the bank is already taking a percentage when you pay in Qs. So, if you decide to pay in Qs with your credit card, you are paying an artificially high rate set by the hotel and the spread the bank charges. The receipt also doesn't show the vat and city tax amount and only provides the total with a line item called taxes which seems to account for the higher rate the hotel charges - very shady. We did the math and we were looking at paying 120 usd and not 100 usd. Keep in mind that the credit card service fee is another 6 percent.

We are thankful for the comments, truthful or NOT. If you are reserving a room through Booking.com and they do not offer the service of paying with credit card on their site, why give our hotel a bad review for this that we have no control over? Then, what are they rambling on about mathmatical formulas? We put our prices in USD, and give you many options to pay. You can pay with USD, Quetzales, credit or debit card, or travelers checks. Our exchange rate between USD and Quetzales is a flat 7.5, either way. We are in the hotel business of renting rooms, not the banking business of making money off exchange rates.
