Wow! When you walked in to the house and took in the view across the ocean. This house has been well looked after by the owners and you can tell that they have spent a lot of time making this perfect with all the mod cons required for an isolated destination. Breadmaker came in handy, along with the pod machine and BBQ. Very comfortable house for 2 families. We loved taking the kayaks and paddleboards out to the lagoon. Even bikes are available and suitable for kids 12+. Fishing gear was also available, along with snorkelling gear. Loved sitting under the alfresco watching the waves and chilling out. Very close to the pub for happy hour too! Highly recommend house. Also recommend hiring ute to make the most of the kayaks/SUPs.
This is a place where the owners have been on enough holidays to know exactly how to setup a place to amplify and not diminish your Cocos experience. You come to this island because it forces you to chillax and detox from the daily grind of life in the 21st century. This house understands why you are here. Its places itself in the centre of your holiday not because its a brash attention seeking Elvis impersonator. It's an
un-panicked, understated, class act. For those from the 80's think of the Sade
(shah-day) song "smooth operator"
Want the beach? walk across the back lawn, want a place to cook the early morning catch? Try the alfresco kitchen, Want to walk to the pub? 200m to the right of your front door. Forgot your USB charger? the house has got one. Need a fishing rod? the house has got them. The best part is; it all works. It's not worn out, old, or lost. Oh I almost forgot; want the most amazing stars in the world? yep just look up on a cloudless night.
Kylie is the fantastic manager who met us at the ferry and had the house perfectly prepared for our stay. Make sure you book her motorised canoe tour, it's a must do on the island and works for everyone from the very young to those of a more senior vintage (including mother in laws) We were a family group of 7, which included;
pre-teens, teens, twenty somethings, 50 somethings and 70 somethings. We stayed for 4 nights and wished we had booked longer....(it's always the indicator for great accomodation)
The only reason that explains why this place hasn't been reviewed before is; those in the know didn't want to share. Sorry guys, the best accomodation on Cocos West is no longer a secret.
