The food was amazing it is not like your normal pasta and red sause that you can cook at home. It has a different flavor and everything. The best place, if you can get it, it to sit on the second floor next to the windows. Will you talk to who every you are with and can look down on the people walking below. The staff is nice and kind. This is a good place to go with friends. But if you want to sit at the window, then it is only for two people.

We just celebrated our third graduation from UMASS and for the third time we choose to celebrate at Pasta E Basta. There are a few things you need to know about booking for graduation. First you’ll need to make reservations months in advance. I love the way Pasta E Basta handles this day. They actually book your reservation for a full 2 hours so you can relax and enjoy your celebration. They do a special menu for graduation. But, even though it’s not the full menu, there are still a lot of choices and variety. I loved that they called us the week of graduation to confirm the date and time.
We started our celebration with their wonderful and creative mixed drinks and interesting beer selection. We were then served focaccia with herbed olive oil.
For appetizers we ordered the spicy calamari and 2 orders of Arancini - so delicious!!
The dinners included Crazy Alfredo, Frutta Di Marre, Scallops & Shrimp in a Tomato cream sauce and Penne Romacampo. The meals arrived together and all of them hot (they have never missed a beat in all the years we’ve been going there, even on this crazy day). Everyone loved what they ordered!
We had an excellent waiter Joe, who it turns out was new to the staff. We would never have known. He was efficient while making the experience wonderfully relaxing.
We actually ate a late lunch before the 5 o’clock graduation and made it there in plenty of time as promised when we made the booking.
After three excellent experiences, I highly recommend booking your graduation celebration with Pasta E Basta.
Thanks for the wonderful memories!!

The server, was excellent. The bread, a cheese encrusted focaccia was probably the best I've ever had. The pizza was thicker than I, a Missouri native was used to but was fantastic.

This is quite a place to find one’s favorite Italian comfort food. My only complaint is that no one on the first floor told us, after we sat for 10 minutes, that one had to go to the second or third floor for full service dining. It took a thoughtful college student to do this. I am glad we made the hike up to the second floor for what turned out to be an intimate and warm casual dining experience. A variety of pastas are available and are cooked pleasingly al dente. I had the eggplant parmigiana, which was served in the traditional southern Italian manner (layered and baked). The taste was on the mild side as this dish is wont to be, but it was fully satisfying as served with a fresh marinara sauce with a nice accompaniment of basil.

Our waitress, G, was excellent: polite, cheerful and extremely efficient/attentive. And the cannoli (housemade) was delicious — it was a pleasure to have this judiciously sweetened so that one can savor the ricotta filling. I would leave out the drizzling of chocolate sauce, such is the subtlety of the fine filling.

This was a late night eat.

Menu looked fantastic.

Some of our food was very good, some not. I want to try again because we did not have any pastas.

We ate mussels in white wine sauce (very good), Caesar salad ( lacked flavor that you would expect in a Caesar salad), egg plant parmesan ( was chewy, maybe under cooked, but their red sauce was very good). They make their own focaccia which was great.

I suspect their pizza and pastas are very good given other reviews.

Downstairs is counter service.

Upstairs is waitress service. Our service was great.

Will try again. Not going to give up on this one.

Maybe because we ordered at 945 at night?
