Excellent atmosphere with great food and in a wonderful historical building. The home of the University Club and frequented by Five College Faculty, Staff, Administrators and students. Open primarily during the academic year.

The University Club used to be the "Faculty Club" open to faculty and staff and run autonomously. Several years ago the university administration decided to "annex" it to the various dining services. They also "redecorated" the club in "Hilton Hotel" modern. Finally, the menu seems to have been downsized. It's not clear when or if a full menu will return.
Lunch is still pleasant but nearby parking is very difficult during term. Walking across the UMass campus is a challenge in itself. We haven't tried dinner recently, but parking is easier after 5 pm.
The houses are historic: 1728 and 1735.

The University Club is a hidden gem of the culinary scene at UMass. The menu is fantastic and contemporary. I ordered the steak, which was served with tasty sauteed green beans, mashed potatoes, and local vegetables. The meal was terrific, clearly prepared by a professional, and the service was friendly. Would recommend this establishment for students looking to impress their parents when they come for a visit, or a romantic partner. I went with friends and had a great experience.

I also have to say that the building is one of the oldest in Amherst and the historic charm really rubs off in way that feels authentic.

The environment is pretty charming. You will find yourself in a house built in the 16th century! The food was also good. I had a very nice burger. It is a perfect place for work lunches.

3 of us had apps and entrees. Can't really say anything was delicious. The bread was warm and good however. The waiter admitted that my wine by the glass was 3 days old. All dishes were bland and just warm. Disappointing visit.
