There are plenty of places to stay in Annapolis. If you want to go somewhere and be left alone by the staff in an informal setting, find a nice hotel. But if you would rather step back in time, not only in architecture or accommodations, but in the time-honored fashion of being not simply a guest at a exceptional inn, but welcomed with open arms, then the Annapolis Inn is your destination. The location is superb, as it is central to everything Historic Annapolis has to offer. The rooms (we stayed in the Rutland Suite) was tastefully decorated and the bath was truly a treat, with heated floors and towel rack to accentuate the clawfoot jetted tub and glass-enclosed shower. And the bedside fireplace truly added to the overall ambiance of the room.

But the hosts are what made the Annapolis Inn truly outstanding. Tell me the last time scones and a crystal bowl of artfully presented fresh fruit (my wife and I eat a light breakfast) for a morning meal lasted two and a half hours? Well, sitting at the table with Joe provided us with many hours of thought-provoking, stimulating and entertaining conversation, along with historical information and suggestions of places at which to dine for the evening. Sometimes you travel to be anonymous; sometimes to immerse yourself fully in the experience of travelling simply for the sake of being part of something more than what you left behind. If the second option sounds enticing to you, let Joe and Alex take you back to a time when travellers were treated better than family. You will not regret the experience. We will be back!

Room Tip: All are excellent!

We are not the couple that normally does the bNb scene, but seeing as it was a gift who can refuse. My sister is always the amazing at picking trips and great destinations and she did it again with the Annapolis Inn. Joe was very easy to deal with when making the arrangements, but I must say we loved Alex. Alex shared stories with us over breakfast and made some amazing apple pancakes, we would go again in a heartbeat. The location is excellent and the room was amazing. Ask about cleaning the chandeliers for an entertaining story. I understand now why they were the guest of honor for a dinner the night we arrived. Like I said in my title Truly Enchanting.

Room Tip: We stayed up top but detail is what they are good at so I am sure that all of them are amazing.

Alex and Joe were exceptional hosts and the location is central to everything. They are first-class people and made us feel like long lost friends from the moment we stepped into their home, and the other guests were as fabulous as our hosts. The accomodations and the food were outstanding as well but it was Alex and Joe who made our stay truly memorable. Our first weekend in Annapolis couldn't have been any better unless there was free parking right outside their door, but that just doesn't happen in Annapolis, the good news is you only have to park once when you arrive.

My wife and I had a perfect weekend at the Inn. Alex and Joe are wonderful hosts, we loved the rich history of the Inn and its plush accommodations, and the location is super. Annapolis is a great weekend destination (I'm sure a lot more enticing in the summer when you can get out on the water) with a quaint downtown, lots of shopping, and plenty of restaurants and pubs. The Naval Academy is extremely impressive and a must-see. I will warn you that parking is no fun. It's a hassle to either leave the car in the public lot or move it around on the streets to avoid tickets, but it's only a small inconvenience considerding the immense upsides. Another slight drawback for us was the 'community' breakfast. We know it's pretty common with BnBs, but there was a little more than usual chatting with guests and hosts that dragged the meal into a rather lengthy affair. We'd prefer a somewhat more 'timely' serving, but that might just be personal preference. The Inn is a bit pricey, but all in all, it was a very nice experience and a great getaway spot.

Room Tip: Loved the fireplace in the Rutland Suite and thought it was well worth a few extra dollars.
