Whilst walking the streets of Belgrade, the ornate spire of this church, caught our eye so we had to go have a look. Built in the early 1800’s, this ornate structure was dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the interior has some nice mosaics to see, all round worth a visit whilst in the area. Definitely worth a look when in the area.

Note>No one asked for money during our visit

I can not deny that the Cathedral is a beautiful building, and one of the landmarks in Belgrade, but we were left with a bad taste by being asked to pay because we were tourists. The lady ran out and tapped us on the shoulder when we walked in, asking where we were from, and because we were not locals, we were told we had to pay a tourist tax to go inside. We did not, and we left. Visiting a church for prayer should be free, but if they must charge, it should be the same regardless if you are a tourist or from Serbia. Not right.

What a neat place! Small and dark, but very beautiful. Many older women covered their hair inside. Very interesting!

Very special - even though our church politics are the worst and need to be condemned. Extremely interesting Orthodox cathedral. Outside is remarkable with its bell tower, but from inside it is even more interesting with its painted ceiling. Very interesting icons and mosaics with fascinating architecture. This is a tranquil and pleasant space to visit.
