Owner description: The world's second largest building was built as a palace for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was overthrown and executed before it was completed.

This place is a must if you are in Bucharest but it has a few quirks to visiting. First of all you have to get a reservation 24 hours (but no more) in advance. The number on the website didn't work for us but the concierge at our hotel was able to do it for us. Then when you arrive you are in a rather large group for a tour and you have to stay with that group and turn in your passport at the beginning of the tour. This is a really beautiful place with a lot of stories. Our tour guide was great and her English was very good. We had a great tour but it went well over an hour so be sure that you plan for enough time! We started at 10 and had to rush to our noon lunch reservation. Worth the trip!

Second largest office building after the Pentagon. Highly decorated inside with tons and tons of various kinds of marble, 2800 chandeliers, beautiful carved wood, extraordinary rugs, drapes and all the rest. Ironically the building was never used by Ceauseseu as he was killed before the building was finished. It now houses the parliament, has three huge active auditoriums and is still less then 70% occupied. A must tour to take

This is a must see landmark when visiting Bucharest. The way the building is decorated and the recent history associated with it are very interesting.

A truly obscene and wonderful building, in equal measure. Beautiful workmanship, terrible concept. You have to book by telephone the day before you want to go. Get off at Izvor Metro and walk through the park
