The negative you see the minute you arrive-it's the dozen or more wide steps you have to climb before you get to Reception. They are also a nuisance when you go for breakfast, as this is taken in the cellar of a beerhouse/restaurant next door..
Although the clellar was underlit the mornings I stayed there, the breakfast istelf was sumptuous 9if a but slow!0. There were lots of hot dishes (and unlike another reviewer found, they were really hot!) There was a great variety of eggs, honey, jams, cheeses and much more as well as the hot food (which inlcuded bacon, eggs, sausages and many variety of vegetaables) all of which were delicious-also tea, coffee, fresh milk and fruit juices-definitely one of the hotel's good points
Reception staff sppke excellent Emglish and were very helpful indeed not just in answering specific questions, but also in volunteering useful information -such as where local exhcnage facilities can be found -and the reception has a list of currnet exhcnage rates so you can keep an eye on prices. The lift (elevator) was small but quick, and my room had an excelelnt view over the street, with all the facilities I could want-and comfortable too.
The hotel was brightly lit so had a pleasant atmosphere
Its location for the city was perfect-in a lovely brightly lit pedestrrian only cobbled street, (much of the rest of Chisinaus is only dinly lit at night-a flashlight.torch is advisable!)
If you don't fancy the menu in the same inn where breakfast is served, there are a lot of choices of local and international cuisine to suit all pockets in the same street and even more in the surrounding area.
In the evening, the street is very pleasant to sit outside if it's warm with a nice atmosphere as many visitors and locals frequent the many restaurants or just promenade in the street
As has been mentioned, there is a supermarket nearby, also of course the eponymous park where you can have very pleasant walks.
Just go up the small incline from the hotel and the park is in front of you-restaurants and the supermarket can be found by turning left and heading a couple of blocks along.
If you want to venture further on foot, the park also leads to the beautiful Orthodox cathedral and thence to the mian avenue with many impressive buildings
I thoroughly enjoyed Chisinau and would have no hesitation in staying in the City Park again- many positives as I noted
