A very central hotel in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.

Excellent service, marwellous breakfast and lunch and dinner and I enjoyed it very much.

It was somewhat puzzling understanding how to put on the lights in the room. You are supposed to put your card key into the box on the well. Put it straight in and then push the buttons inside the room so you get light.

There was so much to do during the conference of Olof Palme International Center, Stockholm, Sweden, so four days conference went by like lightning.

After staying in very nice hotels with lot of space Jolly Alon is a disappointment. The rooms are small and if you get one facing the yard you won't have a balcony which would give a sense of more space.
The lighting system has been mentioned in other reviews and it is really something - at least in nr 419. I am not sure if an engineer would be able to find the logic in how to turn on the lights in order to really have lights when you need them. So remember to pack your bags while there still is some day-light - otherwise it might be difficult to see what is left behind.
The bathroom has no space for your toiletbag, otherwise clean and functioning.
The brakfast could be vastly improved if fried eggs woud be served warm and not cold. That also goes for all the "warm" food. And the waiters could be instructed in not disturbing the customers while eating the breakfast. Now the waiters are very eager to remove plates and glasses while you still have food on or in them.
The Lobby Bar is working sometimes, nobody really knows when. Do not count on the bar being open when you get back from town.

Room tip: request a room with park view

Thank you very much for your candid review of your recent stay at our hotel. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. I greatly appreciate your comments about aspects of the room that need updating. It is a pleasure to announce that we will be implementing many of these upgrades to the property within the next couple of months. Anyway, the room that you had has its own design, and you are absolutely right it has fewer lights than other rooms, but in case you do not like something our staff always can help you in changing the room or adding a lamp for your needs.
Our rooms have a standard size, but of course, if you need a spacious room you can always make the reservation for a Delux room with balcony and park view.
The lighting system works if you put the card in cardholder, then turn on the light on a touchscreen on the wall, or press the standard button for light in the corridor. You can always ask a help from our staff if something is going wrong or brings you uncomfortable feelings.
We also are happy to inform you that we have listened to your advise and offer now warm fried eggs. Also, have instructed our staff.

Location is not so bad, pretty downtown. Rooms are pretty small, a bit outdated furniture, bathrooms very modern and clean. The style wants to be posh. Staff was ok, but not enthusiastic... Breakfast was fine but lacks style. Wifi though was free but really bad.

Thank you for your review and for choosing our hotel. We are very pleased to hear that our location made your stay pleasant. However, we are saddened to hear your comments about room and breakfast. Our rooms Single or Double Type have a standard size but if you want a bigger room you can always make the reservation for Delux Room or Suite Room that also have balcony and view to the park. All the rooms are newly renovated, the latest renovation was in 2016 and the most recent in 2018, so all the rooms are with new, modern furniture.
Regarding the breakfast, we always try to offer to our guest a big variety of the food, but if you don't see something on the table that would like to eat please do not hesitate to order it from the breakfast menu, our waiter will help you with your order.
Our staff members take their roles in our industry very seriously and try, every day, to provide that quality customer service, that our guests expect.

We are truly sorry you felt differently and therefore like to apologize. We hope you will be giving us another chance and returning to our hotel in the future.

I only stayed for one night in a modernized room, with those horrible flat sinks where everything from the inside of your mouth floats around and can't be removed easily. The light system in the bedroom is developed by a rocket scientist: lights go on and off at different locations. Reading light for the bed is -as usual in 4* properties- almost non-existant So either you keep your partner in the full-light or the reader in the dark. Breakfast was a scene from a hotel-comedy. The room is overseen by very young (cheap labour) children who have probably never stayed in a hotel and definitively don't speak English/French/German or Italian. They don't respond to questions for a cup and saucer, butter arrives after repeated requests and Jam/Jelly/confiture/ marmalade never shows up. On top of all: the airco unit is out of order. They offer a (yes a WHOLE 0,5 liter) 0,5 liter from the minibar for free!!

My spouse and I stayed here for two nights with our tour group of 20. The white-colored room we were given (208) was spacious and included a balcony that overlooked Stephen the Great Park across the street. It was furnished with twin beds, a comfortable easy chair, large desk and desk chair, and end tables. While we enjoyed the size of the sleeping area, the bathroom was small. Unfortunately, the air conditioner did not work well, and the room became quite hot and uncomfortable at night after the heat of the day. And the weather was quite warm while we were in Chisinau. We also had no bottled water in our room to drink.

Our group ate one dinner in the hotel restaurant. The first course was a beautiful and delicious Caesar salad that was so large it could easily have been our main meal. Since we were able to choose our entrees, my husband and I selected the schnitzel with mashed potatoes. The schnitzel portion was also very large. Unfortunately, the potatoes that were to accompany the schnitzel finally arrived after everyone finished this entree and awaiting desert.

While the breakfast buffet offered a nice selection, everything that should have been hot (such as the eggs and the mushroom for example) were cold. Cold eggs are not appetizing. This situation needs to be addressed.

Because of some of the drawbacks I mentioned, I cannot rate this hotel more than AVERAGE.
