All the staff were very friendly and the chaps on reception SO helpful.. they answered our numerous daily batch of questions happily and looked up info for us on the web... really went the extra mile to make sure we knew what we were doing!
We were in room 203... very large! the bed was huge, and comfortable and we slept VERY well each night... we did have the window open mind you as the hotel was very warm! it was pin drop quiet being away from the centre of town. Don't let the location put you off.. SO easy to get the bus - stop right outside the front door! into town or back and we 6 found, as we like walking... it was an easy 20 min walk max into the centre of town. The trams are SO cheap... about 50p a ride, very frequent and so getting around to the further parts of the city was easy too.
No beverage tray in the room, but we knew that from previous reviews so took our own. Safe in wardrobe. Hair dryer in bathroom
Large tv.. . just Sky for English speakers but... jeeps! who wants to hear UK news at this time! so we didn't turn it on.
Bathroom... very good shower and lovely deep bath. Double sink. Lots of soft fluffy towels, water always piping hot. Nice toiletries.

Breakfast was limited in choice compared to some hotels but what you got was fresh, nice to eat and very acceptable... the cheesecake was a hit with all of us! Fresh rolls, croissants, doughnuts, fruit, yoghurts, biscuits, cereals... scrambled eggs and sausage were the only hot options. the actual dining room was lovely to be in.... large conservatory type room... very light and pleasantly furnished.
Two of our party had dinner one night in the hotel and said the schnitzel was very good.
All 6 of us had a super, very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the As Hotel and from our experience would highly recommend it.
One minor point.. they need to keep the door to the smoking bar closed... otherwise the very unpleasant stench from it permeates the reception seating area which makes it a no no to sit in if you don't smoke.More
