“very special”
Reviewed 22 December 2011

It might be a little hard to find it, but if you ask for directions, everyone knows the Boyana Church. Only limited amount of people are allowed at the time as the climate is regulated so it can preserve the magnificent layers of frescoes, dating XI - XIX century, so perhaps it would be a good idea to call in advance. Please hire a guide, it is well worth and very inexpensive.
Allow 2 hours as the church is situated on the outskirts. Once you are there, you will be near the National Military History Museum which exhibits gold treasures dating BC, that would leave you speechless.
