We were shocked to have such a great asian dinner in Sofia.
It was our last day in Sofia and we wanted a night light meal before our late night flight. We looked for a good sushi spot across the city and ended up at another place. After looking at the fish in the sushi display we left and came to SASA after a recommendation from a local. I have to say, the sushi display at SASA looked even worse and all their sushi rolls have philadelphia creame cheese, which is a HUGE turn off if you want good sushi.
The waiter told us we would not find authentic sushi in Sofia and better go with what they had. So we decided to make do with the hot menu. Wow, were we shocked at how good EVERYTHING was. We must have ordered 20 or more dishes from the menu and they were all really good.
Soba noodles with beef, seaweed salad, chicken wings, steak, chicken with bazil and best of all the Tom Yam was just out of this world. I have been to thailand 10 times and its the best i have had outside of bangkok.
There were two bad dishes we got, miso that was served room temp and a seared tuna that was just bad. The waitress was understanding and took them back and was happy to replace them with anything we wanted.
All the good came out super fast, never had to wait too long for anything.
The drinks were out of this world as well, mojitos and some fresh melon with grey goose drink that was spectacular.
Prices were also super reasonable. We really bigged out and everyone drank a couple cocktails. the bill came out to about 30 Euros a person including a 15% tip. Its higher than average in Sofia, but this was much higher than average food.
