“Great Facilities - Good Location - Great Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

This is truly a beautiful resort located on the main island. The beach itself is really quite lovely with snorkelling and diving only a stones throw away. The activities centre is great - very organised and a range of trips every day. The gym is very good for a resort gym - and is actually quite a nice retreat from the heat.
The resort feels new and modern and the rooms very well appointed! They even have a spa tub on the balcony! Pure luxury!
There are two pools - one for adults (an infinity pool overlooking the beach) and the other a kid-friendly pool with a shallow end and water 'fountains'.
Sitting by the pool and relaxing with a cocktail or bite to eat is very indulgent and utterly enjoyable. The reviews speak for themselves - and I can only support this notion!
Enjoy!

Bula vinaka ‘LexyLouSydney’,

Thank you for taking time to write us such a great review. We were pleased to read you enjoyed your stay at our resort. All our rooms feature the signature Cleopatra bath and we hope you took time to enjoy a bath ritual at sunset.

We’ve received a lot of great feedback on the snorkeling and diving in Natadola Bay of late and are happy to add your review to that list.

We hope to welcome you back for more relaxing cocktails by the pool! Please e-mail me at scott.williams@ihg.com if you ever return and I will be sure to have your enquiries and booking needs taken care of by our great team at reservations.

Kind Regards,
Scott Williams

As expatriate residents of Fiji we regularly chose the Intercontinental Fiji for our weekends away. The hotel is first class, the service is exceptional and the location is one of the most spectacular we have experienced in Fiji.

So when we got engaged and started looking at venues - nothing compared to our favorite weekend haunt. We booked the venue 8 months before the ‘big day’ and got straight in to planning. During the planning stages we experienced 4 different wedding planners, and although notes on our booking were handed over it was still quite frustrating not having continuity in this area. That said, Louise Acreman the wedding planner who executed our event was very helpful.

Unfortunatley problems occurred at the reception, held the Intercontinental's 'a la carte' restaurant - 'Navo'. Instead of utilising one the function rooms on property - we exclusively hired Navo for the evening to celebrate with our guests.

The issue we experienced - was theft of items from the gift registry table at the reception. As you would expect - we did not take stock of all the items on the actual wedding night - but by day two after the ceremony - it became obvious to us that items had gone missing. (including a diamond eternity ring)

Once discovered (still staying on property) we immediately met with hotel security and repeatedly visited the concierge to report all details. However we were given only scant information in return - only the insistence that an investigation would take place. Then after weeks of to-and-fro, the hotel told us to contact ‘tourist’ police ourselves directly, however this lead to a dead-end - as they closed the case citing inconclusive evidence, and the now several weeks since the incident.

We requested on several occasions to see the incident report sent to the police by the hotel, in order to be assured that the internal investigations were in fact undertaken. However the only document ever produced was a very basic, fact-less report.

All we were offered were insinuations of guilt implicating an additional external wedding coordinator we contracted for the event, who we were forced to use on account of the revolving door planners at the hotel itself.

In the end - after 9 months of repeatedly pressing the hotel on the matter, the hotel's insurance company directly contacted us and clinically stated there was a clause in our wedding contract that 'protected the hotel from liability of any thefts during the event'!

And they were right...there it was in black & white...

In hindsight - our biggest mistake was assuming that a 5-star hotel, which charges SIGNIFICANTLY more than most other Fijian wedding options would adeqautely safeguard our special occassion from the vagaries of petty theft. (in an 100% exclusively hired venue)

The other mistake was assuming we would be given an appropriate level of respect given the sensitvity of the matter (wedding theft!) from hotel management. A few emails aside, 1 phone call in nine months is all we ever received.

If you are thinking of the Intercontinental Fiji for a destination wedding - make sure you insist on additional security...and maybe look more closely as to the liability of the hotel for any of your losses.

Unfortunatley- I think this establishment just assumes that your own personal travel insurance will replace any/all of your sentimental items that could potentially go missing... rather than dealing with the root cause of the issue.

Think more on that final point...

My wife and I have been to Fiji 4 times and have travelled quite extensively. Recently we spent 5 nights at the Intercontinental in Fiji.
This is the best resort we have ever stayed at. It is almost new and the facilities were superb.
Most impressive was the way we were treated when my wife was not feeling the best on arrival.
We were so fortunate to meet Duty Manager Jim Mule. Jim was so considerate and customer-focused that he arranged a different room and regularly checked on how we were going.
The room was fabulous and directly opposite the beach. It was also close to both pools, the resuarants and lobby.
Everything was spotless and the staff attentive and caring. There was just a great atmosphere.
My only suggestions would be to consider providing a shuttle service to Nadi and Sigatoka; and to reduce the spa prices in order to attract more customers.
We have 2 major memories: The quality of the establishment in all respects and te genuine care and professionalism of Jim Mule. Go there and meet the man!
We hope to return!

Room Tip: Pay for an ocean view!

My boyfriend and I have just stayed at the Intercontinental and we honestly didn't want to leave. We had an amazing time. The food, service and facilities were fantastic. There was only 26% occupancy when we were there and it felt as though we had things to ourselves. Of the people we met, quite a few had left their other hotels mid stay to go there. Each person raved about how great the resort was in comparison to where they had originally booked.

We had a beachfront room and eventhough they're the most expensive, I think completely worth it. The view makes you feel like you're on holidays somewhere really special. It's such a beautiful relaxing view.

The beauty of the beach is further enhanced by the snorkeling and diving facilities. Jeremy the dive master is really patient and takes great care of you under the water so you get the chance to relax and experience the beauty of Natadola Bay from beneath the surface too. We loved it so much we went diving multiple times.

I couldn't recommend this resort enough and can't wait to go back.

My family (3 children & 2 adults) spent a week at this resort. It's a beautiful resort and the beach is amazing. Pools are great too. However the service and overall management is somewhat lacking. We arrived late at evening and were not oriented to the resort, for example it would have been nice if somebody explained to us about the different restaurants etc. The kids club was really disappointing and appears to be poorly run. The staff and nannies just sit around & the kids are watching tv. They dont follow the program at all. The room service & cleaning is pretty so so. When we arrived there was a pile of dirty towels on the bathroom floor. When I called room service, they were like "ok" - after a few hours somebody came & picked up the towels, but no apology and the bathroom was not cleaned. The toilet area always smelt bad, I gave up asking them to do something about it.

After a week our 2 interconnecting rooms were dirty & full of dirty plates & classes. I was actually looking forward to get out of there. Some staff are very friendly, but its not consistsnt. Our rooms overlocked the main pool, which looks lovely but is very noisy. All in all, not a relaxing holiday ( it did rain the entire time)
