This is in an old building smack in the center of the old part of Montevideo. It's got a musty, theatrical and dated feel about it -- not the typical place for the luxury-seeking. I loved the antiques and the decor. A well-equipt kitchen is available for those who want to cook. This adjoins a period-piece dining room.with piano. The staff is amazingly communicative and helpful.

Room Tip: Check out a couple or more rooms and choose.

This is really a gem. We had a lovely stay and the people are lovely and super helpful - we only had a day to see a lot and their advice was spot on. The hotel itself is very well situated and comfortable and good value for money. Fantastic furniture and antiques. We loved it!

Splendido is not a luxary hotel it is however very charming with it's high ceilings, antique furniture... it feels more like a home and we liked it for this. Every room is different
We took the family room which consists of 2 connecting room, in one room there is a piano and old, antique decorations. The room has the comfort it needs. If you are attached to the emotionless standard hotel rooms than don't come here. If youmhad enough of such rooms then do... price quality is very much OK... There is not breakfast or restaurant but the area has plenty to offer. Ow.. indeed there is traffic noise from merely the many, many busses. If you don't like this then go for the sound proof rooms of Raddison one block away ;)

The hotel is simple and the infrastructure is good. Except for the internet connection that oscillate sometimes.

The bedroom is clean and the furniture brings us an idea of the last century. The bed is comfortable and the view to the theater is amazing (we stayed at the 2nd floor right in front to the theater). Ideal for 3 people.

The bathroom is clean, however shared. So the risk is that someone will be there when you have some emergency. The shower is ok.

The service is amazing and the receptionists are always ready to help. There's one guy that speaks Portuguese fluently and it is very helpful sometimes.

Well, I really suggest this hotel.

We were staying at the Splendido Hostel for 2 weeks during our spanish course. This charming hostel is very centrally located! Our room was very spacious and quiet and the staff was very helpful and providing local information. Kitchen is small and could be better equipped.
