We booked to stay at the ranch overnight after we had booked a horse-riding tour of the area. The team at Salineras were helpful (thank you Abraham and Luz!) and also respectful of our privacy. They also organised a chocolate work shop which was very interesting, however I am unaware if it is available in English.
The mountains and areas around are beautiful and we highly recommend a tour of the area by horse back.
The food we had was the 'gourmet lunch' cooked by their chef, great as well. Wifi is good but only in the living room and not in the upstairs bedroom.
The bedroom was cosy, warm and very comfortable. There are enough beds for 6.
If we had only 2 minor comments, it would be: the hot water in the shower is not constant and goes a bit cold every 1-2 min...& the transfer from the ranch to Cuzco airport the next day was good, but we would have appreciated the driver's assistance in opening the trunk and getting the luggage out.
All in all this is a lovely and rustic feel place which is ideal for restful stays in the wilderness.
A year passed already since we've been to Salineras Ranch. We spend 4 days with Pablo, his family and his team. We had such a great time between the rides, the food, the company, and all the activities such as the Chocolate Workshop, the brick workshop, the cooking lesson. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. We discovered the area by horse but our kids had the opportunity to continue by car if they were to tired. Pablo made sure that our comfort of traveling was as its best and he sure succeed each time. Even the picnic were impeccable! We still think about our trip to Peru and Pablo helped tremendously to make our souvenirs wonderful.
My partner and I decided last minute to take a vacation over Christmas. Fist step was committing to the plane tickets, that was easy... the rest we
We found 'the ranch' as we refer to it, on many sites with fantastic reviews. That gave us the confidence to book a stay ourselves. The best decision we could have made. We have stayed 4 nights at this magical place- I'm writing this on our 5th and final.
I cannot express enough how easy Liliana has made the whole process- from drivers to excursions to last minute needs. She has been on holiday and not at the ranch yet still responds extremely fast.
If you're looking for luxury and 5 star- this will not suite you. If you are looking for authentic Peru- with safety, and comfort in mind, then don't think twice about booking. When asked to wire the deposit vs credit card I was skeptical- it was lilianas quick response, advice, and fantastic detail about all aspects of our trip (not just the ranch) that gave us confidence. Everything was as described and more so. We stayed in the main ranch... the room upstairs had two queen beds and a bunk bed- we just needed the one queen- so for families there's plenty of room. The bathroom was very large and updated. We also enjoyed the private patio connecting our room- excellent for star gazing. The kitchen below was communal with staff as well- we loved being able to chat with the staff and volunteers each day- but also being able to retreat to the upstairs if we wanted privacy. On days/nights we didn't have meal plans the fridge was stocked Full of local produce, meat, cheese, etc... and anything we could have wanted above that was within a few steps away. Fresh from the gardens, meals were prepared to perfection, and will leave us wanting to take Luz and Juan Carols home! We decided to use the ranch as 'homebase' in the sacred valley. Taking day trips each day- including to Machu Picchu. Liliana helped plan each day- and it was flawless. The drivers were kind and on time. Easy access to all of the places we wanted to see... with the bonus of coming home to horses grazing.Because it is a holiday week- Pablo and Liliana were away. Abraham, Juan carlos, and luz took great care of us.We did a 5.5 hour horseback with Abraham and ranch volunteer Rebecca and it was extraordinary. Unlike any ride I have ever been on- the views will not soon leave my memory.
Abraham also took us on a 3-4 hour mountain bike ride. My partner is experiencing, me- not so yet Abraham made it fun and challenging for us both. I could go on and on about our stay- but will
Conclude with gratitude and the hopes
Of coming again soon!
