We arrived in Ollantaytambo after a long airplane flight, we were greeted warmly by the owner Mrs Luzmila Mejia and her family. The rooms are clean, mattresses are firm, clean pillows also. Our bathroom was clean and worked well all 3 days we stayed there. Mrs Mejia had box lunches ready for us when we went the next day very early to Machu Picchu (5 AM train). She was very helpful recommended places to eat and where to go. Other mornings we enjoy their breakfast of eggs, fresh squeezed fruit juice, bread, coffee, tea and fruit. They have a small but lovely courtyard to sit and talk . She helped us get the collectivo for our return to Cuzco. This place is especial just because of their people and neatness. I would stay there again. Next to the ruins.

Room Tip: Hostal is not on a noisy area, we shared a 4 bed room and slept soundly.

We stayed 2 nights with our family of four. The location in Ollantaytambo is wonderful - quietly tucked away on a pedestrian walk right outside the ruins, a block from the main square and a 5-7 minute walk to the train station.

The owners were very cheerful and friendly. They speak little English but we communicated fine with Google Translator on anything more complicated than my limited traveller's Spanish could handle. Lovely breakfast area with simple, tasty breakfast of bread, eggs and jam.

We saw two parts of the hostel. I definitely recommend the old part. The rooms were charming. Unfortunately, a plumbing issue moved us out of our first room to the contemporary side - which was serviceable but a bit college dorm looking. But at least the owner's solved our problem quickly!

Room Tip: Rooms in the old part of the hotel are charming and really add to the experience of staying in Ollantaytambo.

We stayed one night on our way to Machu Picchu. The location is outstanding, right next to the Ollantaytambo ruins. It was nice and clean, well decorated, and the lady running it was very cheerful and helpful. Our room upstairs (31) was a quadruple (four single beds). We were a couple and a teenager, and while we preferred a double/queen sized bed, we coped for the night!

Hot water was available when the hot water unit was switched on - we asked for it in the morning, which was fine.

Beds are loaded with blankets and as such, we were toasty and warm - perhaps a bit too much? Bed quality was good. Pillows were nice and flat, which suits me but might not suit others.

Breakfast was unfortunately rushed for us to catch the train - it consisted of juice, bread roll/s, scrambled/friend eggs and some jam - seemingly typical Peruvian fare. The coffee was apparently very nice.

One thing visitors might notice is the abundance of signs advising that you can pay with VISA. When I tried to do that, I was told it wasn't working properly, and could I pay with cash? Turns out I had enough, but that might be something to plan for.

Overall, good value.

We stayed for two nights in April, only because we had pre booked the hotel . We should have left after the first night. There was not hot water, when we asked about it they said maybe it would come on at night!!
The room was not cleaned, or the bed made. the breakfast was average.
The staff did not seem interested in anything.
There are much better places to stay in this town

Room small but clean with inconsistent hot water.  Request large portable radiator heater.  Very accommodating staff.  Breakfast in unheated but attractive stone room with eggs cooked to order and fresh squeezed orange juice.  Get a receipt when you pay..Booking.com was under the impression that we did not show up and wanted to charge us again.  We loved our stay in Ollantaytambo and were comfortable here.
