“Good value and friendly, needs updating though”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2012

I stayed 3 nights at the Torreblanca in mid January at the start of my trip. Miraflores is definitely the place to stay in Lima, though the Torreblanca is a safe 15 minute walk to the main shopping and restaurant area in Miraflores. The plus side is that the hotel is about 150 metres from the Pacific Ocean, a great coastline to walk along. It's a 30 minute taxi ride into the centre in rush hour.

The front desk staff are all courteous, friendly and helpful, especially Bruno, who I mostly dealt with. Restaurants and places to visit were recommended, along with taxis being hailed on the street to ensure I got charged the local price and not the tourist price. English is spoken, which was helpful as my Spanish is limited.

The hotel itself has some character and the rooms are basic and functional and have a safe deposit box - mine (including its bathroom) appeared a little tired and could definitely do with some updating. I had a room at the front (301) on the busy roundabout, which was noisy day and night, but by keeping the windows and bathroom door shut, I managed to eliminate some of the noise. The rooms lack air conditioning and ceiling fans. The hotel provides soap, but no shampoo.

The fruit and fruit juice at breakfast (self service) was fantastic - everything else was pretty much standard fare. There are 2 computers providing internet access. Airport shuttle service is provided, which is reliable. It is free on pick up, but 60 soles on return.

For the price the hotel is good value and I felt safe and secure there - I would actually rate it as good overall, ie a 3.5 (better than average, but not very good for the reasons mentioned above).

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are noisy

We stayed at Hostal Torreblanca for two nights as soon as we arrived in Lima. The hotel was located near Kennedy Park and Larcomar (Kennedy park was a 20 min walk on a lovely street), and Larcomar was a 5-10 min cab ride. The location felt very safe when we walked at night to Kennedy Park.

The staff was very helpful, and spoke fluent English.

The lobby and breakfast room had a quaint ambiance, but our room (double room on 2nd floor) was only mediocre. It was clean, but looked very worn down, and basic. Also, we didn't get hot water at night (only in the morning and during the day). Given the price, I think we could've gotten a better room elsewhere (which is what we did a couple weeks later when we returned to Lima for a night).

Overall, my recommendation is to consider this hotel if the helpfulness of the staff and location is most important to you...but if you want a nice comfortable room, I would suggest looking elsewhere. In our experience, the room didn't look as nice as it does in the online photos.

We have free pick up from airport by The hotel driver Guillermo. Nice guy brought us all around to find why I have been looking for a long time before we headed back to the hotel. Thanks!

The hotel is so cool that there are many staircases that led to another building with rooms. The hostal is neatly decorated and rooms are clean. TV with American channels and wifi worked great even on top floor. Staff were very helpful and all speak very good English.

The only thing is I suspect they turn water level lower at night maybe? Water seems slow at night after midnight. Te hotel is in a round about. Thought it might be very noisy but turned out ok. Good value

Stayed at the Torreblanca two nights to start our trip in Peru. The hotel had a car waiting at the airport as promised. (Note it was only from the airport to the hotel which was included not both ways). While the layout of the hotel was a bit funky, our room was clean and comfortable. In the morning we woke up to two pet mackaws outside our door. We had a very good breakfast then went for a day of siteseeing using the hotel's guide. He did an excellent job. (We normally don't use a guide but decided to give it a try here.) The morning we left the hotel had no power. Staff came to our room and knocked on the door for a wake up, which was appreciated. No power meant we were not able to pay using our credit card. Fortunately we had the cash.

We were comfortable in this hotel and would not hesitate to use it again.

An excellent staff service. Good breakfast, nice room, good price. Located in Miraflores, a nice part of Lima city. Service to the airport is appreciated. Guillermo, the taxi driver, is really interesting to discuss with.
