During my trip in July 2009 i stayed here several times for several nights. I chose to stay at this hotel for 3 main reasons: price, location, and no tourist.
First the price is great. I was in a single room and it cost about 45 soles($15 per night). All rooms have their own bathrooms with hot water, 24/7, and a small TV with cable, Includes Spanish and English channels(i believe drench and German channels too). I also noticed they have a parking garage although i did not use it. They do sell food and drinks for an extra cost and if you need your bags held for a while before leaving they can do that for you.
Second i stayed here because of the location. Most people want to stay in the downtown area(by the palace and cathedrals), or by the beach(Miraflores or Barranco) because that where everyone goes. While those are excellent locations i like to retire to my room for some peace and quiet. This a budget hotel in a quiet neighborhood of Pueblo Libre. By taxi its about 20 minutes from the airport.I like the location because it is centrally located to many places in town, Downtown, Miraflores, Parks, museums and archeological sites. I also like the location because there is a laundry mat, supermarket(Peru's Wal-Mart equivalent), banks, Internet and phone "cafes" and several resturants within a 2 blocks of walking distance. if you want if you want to go to any part of the city you can ask the front desk to call a taxi for you or you can walk 3 blocks to the corner and take a taxi or if you are really adventurous take the local bus making all the stops on the way to your destination for about 1.5 soles (45 cents). I recommend the bus rid because you travel with the locals and its a fun experience. There are local artesenias (souvenir shops) a few blocks away and also the Museo Larco is about 15 blocks away(20-30 minutes). Just take precautions walking to the museum because it is in a shady side of town (the museum not the hotel) and walking alone there might make you stand out. Like in any city around the world you just take precoutions and if you are part of a group you should be ok.
Finally I like the road less traveled because you experience Peruvian life in its more traditional or less touristy way. i did see tourist around but they were very few.
If you are on a budget this is a hotel for you its cheap clean and safe. the staff is very helpful and there are many resources for you within a 2 block distance. Getting to the popular locations in Lima is just a short taxi or bus ride away.
