This is a good restaurant if you’re in the Barranco district of Lima, however, it is not worth a trip, it not being in the same league as many of Lima’s really good restaurants. The location, while fairly easy to reach by car, is not in a neighbourhood were one would go for a stroll, particularly not at night. The décor and ambiance are contemporary, perhaps minimalist, resulting in something rather cold and impersonal. The services matches that. While competent, it lacks the friendliness, warmth, authenticity that you will find in many of Lima’s fine restaurants.
The menu offers a bit of everything, from meat cuts and fish to risottos, from Peruvian to Italian to Peruvian-Japanese fusion. The food is fresh and good. Among others we had a nice carpaccio and an excellent seafood risotto. The Tuna tartar with blue cheese was an uncommon combination which did not do much for me.

Hi - had the pleasure of dining at Los Cavenecia with two other people while on business in Lima. We tried the degustation seafood menu which was fresh, flavoursome and delivered with a passion for food.
Ricardo (mine host) was most attentive and ensured we knew exactly what was being ordered so we did not receive any dishes not to our liking.
In 7 trips to South America over the last two years this would have to rank as the best meal i have eaten - and it was not expensive.

I heard about Los Cavenecia (Lima) from word of mouth, which seems to be their best advertisement and a testament to the quality of the food and the overall experience. Although I'm a native of Peru, I hadn't been in about 20 years, so it was a treat to enjoy the much anticipated new Peruvian cuisine, which has gotten a lot of attention around the world in the last five years or so. We shared most of the dishes, and I especially enjoyed the "ceviche (tiradito) Inca", made with citrus from the rainforest (instead of the traditional lime juice), the "tiradito marinero", with crabmeat, in an amazing creamy pasmerssan sauce, and the "tacu flacu", chef Sebastian's modern take on a classic Peruvian comfort food dish. Look this place up! The food was great, not typical, the atmosphere is very intimate, the staff is attentive, and I even went home with a bottle of fine moscatel pisco (like a brandy, for sipping, not mixing). Who knows, you may even meet the chef!

The visit to this restaurant was really disgusting. Our food was cold and even raw ( the beans served as "tacu flacu" were the worst ). We asked for fish " corvina a la paila" that was joined with a poor white rice that looked like it was cooked the day before.
My friends and I have visited many restaurants in Lima where you can see that they really think about all the details in service and food ( LA BISTECA, SEGUNDO MUELLE, EL EMBARCADERO among others). Unfortunately this is not the case at all.

We have tried to follow up with our customer about his unfortunate visit with us, buy haven't heard back from him. However, we've identified the party he came up with, who happen to be very loyal customers of us. They happen to be work colleagues. We were told that in fact, the complaining customer didn't like our bestselling "taco flacu" (question of taste) and while the rice wasn't as warm as he would have wanted, it certainly wasn't yesterday's. As for his comment about being cold and raw, we must say that most of our dishes are in fact cold and raw; we are a Seafood Restaurant. We must insist that coincidently, he is referring to two of our clientele's all time favorite dishes. Finally, we regret the harsh words used to describing his overall visit as we can assure we are far from that kind of adjectives.

Now, this is one of the best seafood restaurants in Lima, and probably my favorite.
The attention is personal and excellent .Sebastian, the main chef, helps you in picking the dishes, and they are all delicious.
The rice with duck (arroz con pato) is a well kept secret and one of the best in Lima.
