I cannot even begin to put into words what an amazing experience my group had with Peru Summit Adventures. When my fiance and I decided we wanted to get married in Peru and do a trek with some of our closest friends and family, I had no idea where to start planning, as I have never been to the country and don't speak the language. Thankfully a good from of mine referred me to Carlos.

From the first email, I could tell immediately that Carlos was the man for the job. Throughout the entire planning process he was beyond thorough and detail oriented and helpful. There was no question or request too big. Also the response time was always within a few hours.

When I first started planning I could barely wrap my head around how I was going to get 13 people to Peru for this 5 day trek and then an additional 7 people to join us at the end of the trek. Logistically I just didn't know where to start. Carlos explained everything in detail and took care of EVERYTHING.

The 5 day trek turned into a complete custom trip for Pete, myself and all of our guests. From transportation of our guests to and from the airport and hotels and train stations, their luggage from point A to point B, Carlos even suggested a restaurant in Urubamba for our wedding reception, called and made the reservation for me and assisted in creating a custom menu for our wedding reception. Carlos and our tour guide also joined for the wedding festivities.

All and all Carlos and I spoke via email at least 3 times a week for almost 4 months. From my silly questions about trail running shoes vs hiking boots, to booking everything for 20 people. He got the job done and everything went exactly as planned. I can't thank him enough.

Now for the actual trek, absolutely amazing! Fernando, or Nando as he came to be called after just a short few hours, and Juve were the two guides that took our crazy bunch of 13 through the Andes mountains to Machu Picchu. Along the way both became more than just our guides, they became friends that we will continue to stay in touch with.

Nando had his work cut out for him with us. We had a large group and people with varying skill levels. Everyday we were able to access the trek ahead of us and he gave us several different options to get to our destination. Occassionally it wasn't the plan A that I planned with Carlos, sometimes we decided that plan B or C was better for our group. This was a huge help, because as you get into this 5 day trek you start to realize what is right for your group.

The trek was so beautiful, from being at a glacial lake, to within an hour dredging through the mud in the jungle. From cold nights, to being sticky and muddy in the jungle, I wouldn't change a thing!

Also big thank you to our horsemen and chefs, we had 4 of each for our group. They were so welcoming and accommodating. Especially considering we had a couple vegetarians, one vegan, people who couldn't have dairy, we had it all and they were able to prepare meals to fit everyone's diets. The food was delicious and there was a lot of it! The chefs even made us a celebratory cake for our upcoming wedding. You will not go hungry with Peru Summit, that's for sure.

We fell so in love with South America and Peru Summit, we are already talking about what our next trip with them is going to be. I would refer anyone and everyone to Peru Summit. They exceeded expectations!

Carlos, Nando, Juve and the whole PSA crew, we cannot thank you enough for making our long shot wedding dream a reality. I didn't think I was going to be able to pull it off, but we made it happen!

Hello dear Meridith

We appreciate a lot for taking your time to share your experience about the wedding trek we had in SALKANTAY TREK TO MACHU PICCHU 5 DAYS, which makes so happy to our Peru Summit Adventures crew and very happy to know that you had a fantastic experience with us while exploring this popular trekking destination in Cusco, before your wedding day at Machu Picchu. Delivering the local culture, history, cuisine, and leading you safely to every destination was a great pleasure and made with passion, which is one of our main core values to create experiences of a lifetime.

Thank you so much for traveling with us and being part of Peru Summit Adventures experience. Hopefully, we see you again in our future journeys and we'll be waiting for you with our open arms.

We have just finished the Quarry trek with our guide Jube.
We chose Peru Summit as we are in our early 60's and did not want to do a large group tour. Peru Summit specialise in small personal tours and this is exactly what we got.
The equipment used is top class and extremely comfortable. Our cook Louis achieved amazing meals on the tiniest of stoves...We were never hungry with additional snacks offered along the way.
The Quarry trek meant we spent most of our time walking in spectacular scenery alone unlike the I ca trail. We LOVED this aspect. Being older our guide Jube let us take our time and never rushed us or became inpatient. The Quarry trail also has some excellent Inca ruins and a spectacular waterfall so we certainly didn't miss out o n any way.
After 2 nights camping we enjoyed a wonderful stay in A quad Calientes booked into a beautiful new hotel with hot showers and the biggest bed!!
We were also booked into the first group for Machu Picchu so it meant seeing the ruins without hoards of people.
The train back was later in the day and this would be our only recommendation...to ask for an easier train as it makes it a long day.
All in all we could not fault the care taken over our trip and would highly recommend this agency to everyone.

Our 5D/4N Ausangate Trek with Peru Summit was fantastic from our initial email communications to our post-trek debrief. I would not hesitate to recommend Peru Summit to anyone and would definitely work with them again should we be in Cusco area (Choquequirao is next on our list!)

Before the trek even started everything seemed very organized and professional. Carlos (the owner) and Arturo, our guide, came to our hotel the night before departure for the pre-trip briefing. They told us what to expect each day, answered all our questions, and ticked through a gear check list to ensure we weren't forgetting anything. We were impressed Carlos came along personally which showed to me he was very hands-on and invested in making sure the trip would be great.

We had a fantastic time on the trek, both because of the spectacular mountains and the excellent crew of people we had. Arturo, our guide, was phenomenal! He was clearly a very experienced guide and had a wealth of knowledge about the Cusco region - including its culture, history, and the natural environment. He was always pointing out interesting things along the trail and it was nice to chat with him over meals to learn more about him and the region. Arturo also adjusted the trek on the fly to suit our hiking speed and was constantly checking in with us to make sure we were having a great time and feeling well. When we encountered some local women selling goods on the trail, he helped us understand what was hand-made locally and what had been brought from Cusco. We really were in good hands.

Julio Cesar, our cook, made us delicious multi-course meals far better than the camp food we are used to making for ourselves. Lomo saltado, quinoa frittata, causa, passion fruit pie, aji de gallina .... it was all so good I never even found myself daydreaming about what I would eat once we got off the trek.

Francisco and Ernesto, our horsemen, were also fantastic. They not only managed the horses but worked very hard at setting up and breaking down camp. These guys were clearly very experienced horsemen and outdoorsmen who knew what they were doing.
The crew seemed to genuinely enjoy working with each other and the horses also seemed happy and healthy, which was important to us.

Everyone took such good care of us it really felt like glamping. After being sent to bed with a hot water bottle and woken up with coca tea and a bowl of warm water to wash my face, I am now completely spoiled!

After the trek Carlos debriefed with us and sought feedback on whether there were any areas to improve (there wasn't, really!)

The trek itself was amazing with spectacular scenery. Dramatic peaks, huge glaciers, blue glacial lagoons, colorful valleys...It was a dream. The altitude made it quite challenging, though, despite being fairly well-acclimatized going in, having spent 5 nights in Cusco, hiked to Machu Picchu, and spent 5 days in San Pedro Atacama beforehand. We didn't take Diamox, but if I were to do it again I would consider taking it. My spouse and I both had mild to moderate headaches, and I felt a bit nauseous and struggled with the high passes the first and second day. Arturo was very mindful of how we felt and clearly had a contingency plan in mind in case we couldn't go on. Fortunately, we felt much better on days 3-5.

Really, I only have positive things to say about this trek and the agency. The people were fantastic, the tour went perfectly, and I liked working with what felt like a smaller company vs. some of the really big names. It was more personal. I would not hesitate to book another tour with them again. If you're considering booking with them, do it! They're great and you'll have a wonderful time.

My husband and I chose Peru Summit Adventures for our 4N5D Inca trail trekking and we are absolutely thrilled that we did!

The owner, Carlos was incredibly quick to respond to our emails. His excellent communication meant we were thoroughly informed about everything. This helped us prepare for what was to come.

Our guide, Juan Carlos was super knowledgeable and patient. He always entertained our questions with a big smile. The fact that he was proud of his Incan heritage made a huge difference in the quality of the information we were receiving throughout the trek.

Our porters were simply fantastic!! They were doing the most physically demanding work yet they were always in the best mood. They went above and beyond to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. Oh and the food. Our head chef, Santos deserves a special mention. He is such a magician to be able to prepare all those beautiful dishes in the mountains with minimal tools!

Thank you so so much to Peru Summit Adventures for making our trip extra special.

Working with Carlos and everyone at Peru Summit exceeded my expectations in every way. I initially discovered Carlos on TripAdvisor and messaged him on Facebook, where he replied very quickly and answered all the questions I had about the trek and also helped us plan a Sacred Valley tour that included everything my family and I wanted to see! When we arrived in Peru, the day before our first tour, Carlos and his family came to visit us to explain the details of the trek and give us the standard duffel bags the horses would carry for us. We actually booked 2 tours over the course of our stay in Peru with this company and both tours were absolutely amazing.

Sacred Valley Tour: We took a 1 day guided tour of the Sacred Valley and our guide, Juvenal, was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Juvenal noticed that my family and I preferred hiking and he suggested to change up the tour a bit to include a short 1-hr hike from the Maras Salt Ponds down into the Sacred Valley as opposed to driving which was what was planned. We actually ended up walking right into Juvenal's hometown and he was telling us stories of his childhood and showing us hidden gems along every street. You can really tell that the employees of this company are passionate about sharing the beauty of their country with others.

Choquequirao 5 day trek: First of all, I really really recommend hiking to Choquequirao. It's a bit off the beaten path but with Carlos and the boys at Peru Summit you have nothing worry about! Carlos was very helpful in answering all of our questions prior to the hike and informing us on what to bring and what to expect on this longer trek. Our guide, Juan Carlos (JC) was really fun and knowledgeable on Incan culture and the flora and fauna we'd see along the way. The hike was quite challenging (several hours of walking up and downhill everyday) but it was reassuring to know that if anything happened, we had a very capable team and an emergency horse to have our back. Luckily, we did not need to ride the emergency horse but just having that extra safety net was a huge reassurance. One thing I do recommend to everyone is to bring hiking poles! We ended up renting from Carlos since we didn't bring enough. Our cook, Luis was amazing and every single meal was super delicious and filling. He cooked something new every single day so you never get tired of the food!
Since we did the 5 day Choquequirao hike as opposed to the 4 day one, we had one full day to explore the Incan ruins. We were able to explore every part of the ruins and since a lot of it has not been excavated yet, I really felt like Indiana Jones walking through the vegetation. Sometimes, JC would just brush some trees aside and we'd see an unexcavated Incan ruin under the growth! Choquequirao is such a beautiful site and I'm so happy that Peru Summit was there to guide us and teach us all about it.

I can't say enough good things about Peru Summit. Every single person that we met was so friendly and professional. If you are interested in booking a tour or a trek, I highly recommend this company. When we come back to Peru one day, I can assure you that we will be contacting our friends at Peru Summit again.
