Without actually accounting for it in the review itself I'll just say we saw a lot of animals of different kinds (especially monkeys and birds but also bigger animals like an ant eater, caiman and capibara).

Choose this agency because they are one of a handful actually operating inside the reserved zone & price was extremely attractive compared to the other companies.

The guide was absolutely excellent, knew all about the jungle and animals, spoke English very well, and very clear Spanish. Food was high level and plenty of it. Rooms and bathrooms were basic but fine. The days were packed with activities - early morning walks, most of the day we were out looking for animals, and then night walks.

The information given in the office was very honest and helpful in understanding what to expect.

Reserved area was great but I would think twice before going on the shorter trips that stay in the cultural zone.

Highly recommend Vilca, just be sure to bring a lot of mosquito repellent.

Thank Zak H

I booked a 3d/2n trip to Manu through Haku Travel but they booked through Expediciones Vilca. I partially overpaid because of going through Haku but either way felt this trip was one of the lowest value-for-money experiences I had in Peru.

2 of the days I was sent with a tourism student who was very kind but whose English was extremely poor and was unable to effectively communicate our plans and had little knowledge about the jungle.

Lodge accommodation and food was bare-bones which was expected and fine but I was unimpressed by the professionalism, or lack there-of, of the staff. Our guide did not have a set plan for our time in Manu and would continually change the itinerary. While he knew the names of the birds well, he provided no additional information about what we were seeing in the jungle.

The scenery is gorgeous and I would have been happy sitting at the lodge reading a book however there was loud construction at the lodge during the day and at night the workers watched TV at full volume in the dining room.

Vilca Expediciones has a well run system for allowing people to explore the jungle. The guides are good, the accommodations are especially clean, and they provide many of the necessities (like food and boots). We went on the 3D/2N tour and had a great time. We certainly wished that we could have spent more time in Manu because the drive takes about 8-10 hours each way. That being said, our time in the jungle was well utilized. We went on jungle night walks and spent most of our time doing various things in the forest to truly experience the cultural zone. Our guide Mr. Anselmo was very informative and spoke English very well. We also only had 5 people total in our group, which really made the experience worth while. I would definitely ask when reserving any Manu trip the number of people in our group because I am sure it would not have been as awesome of an experience with a larger group.

We really enjoyed our 4 day, 3 night (all by bus) Manu Expediciones Vilca tour, into the Manu Cultural zone part of the national park. Our guide, Carlos, was super - he was extremely good at finding birds and other wildlife for us to see. He had a great tripod / lens set up that allowed all of us to see everything well - we even took pictures with our phones through the lens!
Learning more about the culture and tradtions of the people was fascinating, including the museum in Paucartambo.
The food was very good (thank you Barbe!), and we really enjoyed the company that was in our group as well. We were 3, and joined 3 other people - so not crowded, but very comfortable.
Swimming in the river, jumping off the rocks, and in the hot springs was also great.
Because it was a bit cooler than expected, some wildlife did not make an appearance (no macaws at clay lick). The night walk with Lucio was also very interesting - who knew seeing spiders and frogs would be so fascinating?
One highlight was seeing the group of capybaras on the way out, on the last morning.

My husband and I went for a week. It’s a long journey into the jungle but we had an excellent guide who showed us countless birds, many spiders, snakes, monkeys and even the giant otter. Food and accommodation was basic but did the job. Highly recommend this company for an affordable Amazon jungle adventure!
