If you are looking for a genuine jungle experience this ecotour is a can't miss. Upon arrival in Iquitos we were met by the owner, Gerson, and driven to Nauta where we continued by canoe to the riverfront lodge. The guides all speak good English and make every effort to please. We stayed 5 days, 4 nights, with activities planned for each day. These included daily boat rides with our guide Wilson, day and night hikes through the jungle, and three meals a day made with fresh ingredients. We spotted caimans, monkeys, toucans, boas, giant bullfrogs, tarantulas, sloths, dolphins. We fished for piranha and ate our catch for lunch. The resort is clean throughout and the food is fresh and plentiful. As well as enjoying the jungle, we loved sitting in the lookout tower over the river watching the local residents travel to and from the nearby village. The only negative to speak of is the extremely loud music played throughout one night. This is not really the fault of the lodge but is nevertheless irritating. If you are looking for a really good value and a genuine jungle experience this is a great choice.

We stayed in Muyana Amazon Lodge for three nights and took lot of boat rides as it had rained a lot and we could not walk anywhere!! Staff took us several times in boat to see wildlife but we saw very few birds, monkeys etc.

The title of this review may be a bit puzzling, but it has a lot of significance and meaning. It is the phrase used by one of the naturalists, Juan Tejeda, aboard the Aqua Amazon River Cruise. It is an understatement. Aqua Expeditions has two luxurious riverboats to transport its guest through the Pacaya Samiria Reserve at the headwaters of the Peruvian Amazon. Twelve beautifully appointed suites provide all the comforts of a five star hotel for each of the 24 passengers. California king beds, individually controlled air conditioning, and a wall to wall, floor to ceiling window give a comfortable vista of this spectacular sanctuary.
Exquisitely prepared meals from locally obtained fruits, vegetables, fish and other exotic delicacies are served at every meal. Rare Paiche fish, fresh water shrimp, and a host of wonderful and delicious local treats.
The real highlight, however, is not the food or the boat, but the Amazon. Hundreds of species of birds, reptiles, fish, monkeys, and sloths are part of the rainforest inhabitants. Each species expertly identified by one of the three certified naturalists guides onboard. Your twice daily ventures into the rainforest takes place on smaller skiffs that allow for safe comfortable travel deep into jungle.
The small number of passengers results in an intimate welcoming by the entire crew. Each member knowing each guest by name, what they like to drink, and where they are from. The experience is truly once in a lifetime. So, if you ever had the urge, Check It Out!
