Just ate here the other night. Food is excellent....quite a variety of Mexican dishes. The Margaritas are good too. Restaurant is in a neighborhood off of Las Americas. It is adorable inside....with decorations hanging from the ceilings and on walls. Staff is very welcoming. Have never left the restaurant when there wasnt a full house!

Most people associate all Hispanic with Mexican which is not correct. Tacanijo utilizes local products to closely mimic Mexican. Good horchata, picante chilies, tasty refritos will remind you of your favorite place back home.

This is just a great place to come for Mexican food. The decor is fun, authentic and colourful. The service is great, and the menu is very expansive. We went to their other restaurant at the old Cathedral for lunch, and it is great as well. This time I ordered the volcanes which were wonderful, and all for the princely sum of $5. The portion was huge, the food was well spiced (not a simple thing for Ecuador), and overall it was great. The bill for 2 of us, including margaritas, taxes and tip was $20¡ You Wong be disappointed!

We were kindly offered a table and brought menus. Waitress was attentive and friendly.

She took our order and then asked if we wanted chips. My wife said "Sure!", not realizing that it would likely be an extra charge. It was, to the tune of $2.50. The chips were stale, and there were not very many. The guacamole and bean dip was just ok.

Two of us ordered coke...$1.65 each for a 7 oz bottle (tiny).

We had two dishes that were dry and bland. I read another review that said this, but I went anyway because of all the good reviews.

Last, there is a cat allowed at the tables, and it begged the whole time we were there.

My husband and I love good Mexican food, and this restaurant did not disappoint. The owner is from Mexico and the food is authentic. The burrito and chimichanga were outstanding! The margarita is the best we have had in Ecuador....really good. We went with our daughter and her fiance (they live in Cuenca) so they knew the location of the restaurant, which is a little hard to find. They told us another location by Parque Calderon has opened now....which would be easier for tourists to find. I personally loved the decor/ambiance....it was lovely. The service was also very good. We will definitely be going back to this restaurant!
