“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2011

I was in Quito on business last month (October 2011) for 5 days and enjoyed the experience of staying at Eugenia Hotel very much. After getting acclimated to the altitude (I reside in Florida at sea level) all went very well. Their front desk staff were all very professional, spoke perfect English, and guided me in my daily excursions around the beautiful city. The hotel staff, from the restaurant servers to the housekeepers were all excellent in manners and service. Just around the corner was located a great steak house serving great food at reasonable prices -- the Esteban. Went there several times during my stay and entertained prospective clients. I'll definitely stay at the Eugenia Hotel every time I visit Quito.

We had a layover in Quito and needed a clean quality hotel . Robert sent a taxi for us when we arrived and had a taxi for us the next morning. Even though breakfast does not begin till 7am he arranged for juice and coffee for our early morning departure. There are many great restaurants within walking distance. To me this European style hotel with all the American amentities far outweight staying across the street at the Marriott.

Very interesting. Adequate overall.
Some quirky, pleasing features.
No problem at all for our one night stay

Unhelpful staff and poor quality. King rooms are very small. Beds hard. Intermitent hot water, and never when you want it. Stayed 2 times in 10 days because of prior booking. First arrival was greeted by nice young man who spoke English who assigned our room. When we got in room we wanted a hot shower after a day of flying, only to find NO HOT WATER! And it was 5:00 in the afternoon, and only a few rooms booked. The next day we returned at the end of a day of exploring to find only one towel in our room. I approached the young lady at the desk and was rudely told that all the towels had been used in other rooms. After a fair amount of arguing back and forth we got a towel, hand towels, and wash cloths. We left the next day and were to return in one week. When we returned the girl at the desk said all she had left was a room with 2 small beds, even though I reserved a king room for each stay 4 months earlier and was confirmed by her the week prior that I would return to have a king room as confirmed. However I was told on my arrival the second time that reservations booked through web sites were only room "requests"!!??
After I told her I was leaving for another hotel suddenly a king room became available. Half the lights worked, and NO HOT WATER.

It is close to airport, but almost all hotels here are as the airport is in the city.

Room Tip: You take a gamble here on a good room and hot water.

We stayed 2 nights on arrival to Quito. Taxi transport from the airport was arranged. Room was fine, with tons of storage space. Quiet, even being close to majour streets, and with a mostly booked hotel. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Close to the JW Marriott, and the one steak house we used the first night was terribly expensive, but walking one block over yielded many other, less costly choices. !5 minutes from the airport.
