Some would say say luxurious, some would say a bit dowdy. We were a bit in-between. When the restaurant was relatively empty, it seemed a bit dark and gloomy, but the atmosphere improved as the crowd increased. As we were a bit tired and "over-fed" from lunch, we only ate one course plus desert. We both chose grilled lamb chops which were perfectly cooked and we accompanied this with an Ecuadorian wine (our first and the only Ecuadorian red on the wine list) and it was good value for money.

Great service and nuance and subtlety in the sauces. Everythings was thought out in order to maximize flavor. Of course the cost for a meal of similar value would be hard to replicate in the USA.

We had a delightful dinner at La Belle Epoque--we were seated at a table with a great view of the plaza. The food is innovative and extremely well-prepared. My Nona pasta appetizer looked like a Jackson Pollack painting and was delicious. Prawn main course also outstanding. My husband had the sea bass entrée which was also outstaniding. Quiet, great service.

The restaurant was beautiful, classic old world French style and our meal was accompanied by a pianist which created a very romantic atmosphere. The menu was a fusion of French and Ecuadorian with lots options including vegetarian. We shared the crab cakes and had the filet mignon which was served with vegetables and some delicious mushroom risotto.

This is on the second floor of the Hotel Plaza Grande. As soon as you walk in you feel like you are walking into somewhere special. Everything from the décor to the set tables and the chairs are lovely.

Service is excellent, quite proper but still friendly. There were eight of us as part of a tour so we have a set menu. White and brown slices of a small loaf were delivered to the table with three different spreads to go with them.

The food is presented so well, almost a piece of art. The starter of prawn ravioli was perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. The main, an odd combination of a piece of steak and a piece of salmon with risotto. The salmon was very tasty indeed, although a little overcooked, the steak not very tender but in a nice sauce. The dessert was a passion fruit jelly on top of a chocolate cake and very tasty.

I had red wine, it was Ecuadorian, a blend of Cabernet and Merlot and was excellent. I presume it was the house wine.

A very nice meal in a remarkable room.
