This is a review for a private event I held at their private room on the second floor. First off, the organization was exceptional and, even though we were a small group, we were treated as a priority for them. The food was spectacular. Mr. Betancourt organized everything for us. We had the avocado with shrimp as appetizers, parrillada as main course. We brought the cake, but they gave us ice cream to go with it. We also had side salads and rice for everyone. The waiters were very attentive and I do credit them for the success of my event. Very happy with the service, food and value and will definitely eat here again and have events here.

Two of our party had the cheeseburger and they both said that the burger was the best they had ever had. The 'pick your own' salad bar meant that they could have as much or as little garnish as they wanted. My daughter-in-law had one of the pork dishes which looked really nice and I had the Chicken with mushroom sauce. The meat portions were huge, the French fries were crisp and hot and the garnish was lovely.
The waiter that looked after us was called Patrick and he could not have been nicer. All in all I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Went for the mixed grill for 2. Very average, wasn't sure which cut of meat was which...all tasted the same except for the sausages. We both had iffy stomachs afterwards too, so not great.

Best to check things out ahead when dining at Rinco del Gaucho, especially if you're planning on using a credit card to pay. Food was just average in quality and pricing. Seemed a bit shady when it came to paying the bill - where payment had to be in cash only - yet on the glass entrance door to the establishment there were stickers of the the credit cards it supposedly accepted. Best to avoid!

Went here for lunch with a friend, at the Diego de Almagro location in La Mariscal. Both of us had the Gaucho Bife de Chorizo, which was served on a charcoal fired warming tray, with a very tasty jus, a garnish of sauteed onions & peppers, and a choice of baked potato or homemade steak fries. US$23. The steaks were huge, more than we could eat. They do offer a slightly smaller steak for three dollars less (not on the menu). The steaks were on the tough side, but were prepared as ordered, and quite accepable. There is quite a large, and prohibitively expensive wine list. Beer is also offerred, but is twice as expensive as found in other neighbourhood restaurants. The only other occupants in the restaurant were wearing business suits. and I get the impression that the locals only eat here for a special occasion, or when an expense account is footing the bill! I would not recommend this restaurant to budget conscious treavellers!
