A small, picturesque, very touristic area full of bars and restaurants. Close to the Cerro San Cristobal and Neruda’s house La Chascona.
One can spend one hour strolling around and stop for a meal or drink. There is not much of art or beautiful buildings, it is more commercial. The only nice building I have seen is a small hotel (Castillo Rojo).

Stopped here after taking the funicular from Cerro San Cristóbal. Neighborhood is trendy with some nice restaurants. We were there during the day but could tell by the number of bars that this is an area to go for drinks at night.

We stayed at an air bnb across from the Afro cafe (don’t go there for a sandwich, lame) but the location is great! We’ve been walking every where and it’s nightlife is crazy. Many bars and restaurants, younger crowd. Dress code is the same as home:, pacific NW.

This is known for its bohemian atmosphere and is well worth visiting, especially in the evening. It is a great place to wander and 'people watch'. There is a very relaxed atmosphere and plenty of interesting shops to explore. There are street entertainers everywhere and you can even indulge, if brave enough, in some impromptu street dancing, which we merely observed. Despite the crowds it feels safe and we came away with smiles on our faces.
