I visited this bakery 2 times in 1 weekend, as I was intrigued with its wide variety of products.
Bought cookies on the first day, then some desserts on the next day.
Bengawan sells cakes, pastries, cookies, biscuits and many other sweet desserts called kueh.
So far, I have tried the following: kueh lapis (similar to mille crepes, except that this is more firm), bengawan solo cookies (in tin can), kueh talam, kueh bugis (green glutinous rice with sweetened coconut milk) and their colorful kueh lapis sagu.
I don't have a favorite now, but the lapis sagu is easy to eat, with its sweet taste and multi-colored multi-layered appearance. The kueh lapis is also a good meal ender. It does contain alcohol though so it may not be appropriate for small children.
