My family had the pleasure of staying in a 3 bedroom apartment at Shangri-La Apartments near Orchard and it was a great experience that we were sad to leave. The staff was amazing, and I can’t say enough how much they made our stay special where we will always remember them. Some great people to interact with were Habri at the front desk, and how he went out of his way to make my children feel special and was very entertaining to them. Also Chefs Fong Moi and Jaya Raj in The Line breakfast buffet, as they always remembered our omelet order each morning and we never even had to go up and tell them when we came in, they saw us walk in and already had our omelets made and sent out to our table—what spectacular service! They knew our names and Chef Jaya even made my family a special going away dish when we left, and it was so delicious and thoughtful of him. We will definitely be going back just to say hi to these great people we met, and our kids keep asking when we can see everyone again. The apartments were nice, great pool for the kids, very central so great places off of Orchard were in walking distance.

We had a very pleasant one-week stay at the Shangri-La Apartments. The Apartments are located next door to the Shangri-La Hotel, and very close to Orchard Rd. Transit is easy to destinations throughout the city.

As a family of four with two young kids, it was great to have an apartment with separate bedrooms and a full kitchen to cook meals when the kids were not up for eating out. Food delivery services such as Grab will deliver to the apartments, so we never went hungry. There are a few grocery stores within walking distance on Orchard Rd where food can be purchased.

While the Apartments were quite nice, this facility is not as luxurious as the Shangri-La Hotel. For us that was a positive. Apartment guests are permitted to use Hotel facilities including the pool and spa during weekdays, but we felt more comfortable using the facilities at the Apartments, which are more casual and family-oriented.

Laundry machines were free and worked very well, though we wish we had brought a bag of laundry powder with us. Instead we bought it from the grocery store and left most of it behind.

We would be pleased to stay here again.

This review is based on 3 families (6 adults/5 kids) travelling staying together over 2 apartments (level 2 & 6) for 3 nights. The Shangri-La Apartments ("SLA") is about 20 mins by taxi from the airport, but they do offer a shuttle service if you prefer a more personalised transfer; we used the transfer service back to the airport which cost $65SGD one way (we have a large group, could be cheaper for smaller groups). Reception area isn't very big and is situated right at the entrance door and appears to be manned around the clock. Check-in was a breeze and the gentlemen gave us a nice run down on what was available to guests at both SLA and Shangri-La Hotel ("SLH"). We stayed in the two-bedroom apartments and found them both to be spacious, clean and well-equipped (large fridge, oven, utensils, etc...). It was great having two bathrooms which were stocked with the usual toiletries expected of SLA. Some may say the décor and building looks a bit dated, but we argue that it has 'classic' feel to it and didn't mind at all as everything was squeaky clean and functioned as they should. There is house-keeping daily except for Sundays (not sure of the reason). Our housekeeper did a fantastic job cleaning our rooms and she was super friendly, always with a smile on her face and on standby to help in anyway. That was the general feel of everyone at the SLA, they were polite, professional and available to assist with our enquiries. What we loved also about the SLA was the complimentary hire of prams, free water bottles (replenished daily in your room, but also readily available near the reception area) and free access to laundry facilities on the same floor as your room (a huge bonus when traveling with kids. BYO washing powder/liquid). A spa facility is available but we didn't get a chance to visit. There is only 1 pool on ground level which was a nice size with varying depths, very clean and never busy during our stay. There is a separate little baby pool which has ankle deep water for bubs/toddlers (note: there isn't a life-saver or supervisor on duty). There is a toilet/shower facility at the pool side so you could always use that if you had to check out early and wanted to freshen up before heading to the airport. The SLA website pictures shows a kids jungle gym/play area and it was one of the main reasons of us choosing to stay here; however to our great surprise, the facility is actually located in the SLH and there's a cost of $28SGD per child for max 3 hrs. We used the complimentary shuttle bus to get to Orchard Rd a few times, the bus driver (apologies we didn't get your name) was so sweet with the kids and always made an effort to address each passenger when we boarded. First shuttle is 9:55am which we found a little late, but then again most places don't open until 10am so it works out in the end. It's actually a lot faster to walk to Orchard Rd as the bus makes a few pit stops and then factoring in traffic its a solid 20 mins ride. The SLA is about 5 mins walking distance to Orchard Rd and maybe a further 5 mins to reach the centre. There a plentiful taxis which will take you back & forth to SLA with a fare of approx. $6-8SGD. We found that many taxi drivers didn't know the right address of SLA and would try to drop us off at SLH, so you need to tell them "SLA, 1 Anderson Rd' which was very clear to them. In summary, we highly enjoyed our short-stay at the SLA and would certainly recommend families or anyone who wants conveniences of an apartment, in a decent location to consider staying here.

Room tip: A room higher up & facing away from the pool

Well located and very comfortable with nice staff. Ideal for a longer stay with family. Nice swimming pool and short walking distance to Orchard Road. Also possible to get easy access to all the restaurants from nearby Shangri La Hotel.

We stayed at the Shangri-la apartments for a holiday with our family of 4 (incl. 2 kids under 7) and stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment while 8 family members stayed in 3 of the 1 bedroom apartments. All rooms were incredibly spacious and the kitchen allowed the flexibility to provide meals without the expense of eating out all the time (a supermarket is located within a 5 minute walk). Our package included breakfast at the neighboring Shangri-la Resort, which was the BEST buffet breakfast we have experienced. The resort is catered to all travellers and had a dedicated family area for dining (which the kids LOVED as they could serve themselves from the kid's buffet). The kids club in the resort was also the best we have encountered so far and we couldn't get the kids to leave (it was quite difficult for us adults to leave too as we were having too much fun!).
The apartment pool was well suited to all ages as it had different areas and depths to cater for toddlers right through to adults and a spa area too. For poolside service, guests at the apartment can enjoy the resort pool on weekdays also (which we did and LOVED). A special thankyou to Yuki the cleaner, who was so kind, accommodating and considerate and took great care in cleaning and looking after our belongings. The staff downstairs were welcoming and helpful also. Overall, an outstanding stay for our family and we highly recommend the apartments for anyone looking for space, convenience and value for money accommodation.
