Myself, wife and son (ages 52, 46, 22) stayed here for 8 nights Jan29-Feb06 and had booked 2 standard rooms. We paid a total of S$ 160 / day incl breakfast and taxes for each room. We were given 2 adjacent rooms on the 7 th floor.

Our review:

Rooms - small - but very nice - with our window facing Orchard Rd area. Hair dryer + kettle provided - sufficient for our daily needs. No tea coffee sachets - but that was ok with us. Mini fridge was helpful as well. Free wi-fi was very helpful while planning our daily trips - as I had a laptop with me.

Bathroom nice and functional - with basic toiletories being replaced daily.

Location - excellent ! Enough has been said on this by most guests.

Restaurant - had breakfast buffet. Clean - the buffet was reasonably good - though tends to get monotonous after a few days. But this can happen at the best of hotels. So no complaints.

Pool on terrace - very nice ! We used this 2-3 times and every time there were hardly any guests using the pool. The views all around are great !

Reception - friendly and helpful.

Overall - we were very happy with this hotel and in expensive Singapore this provided excellent VALUE FOR MONEY.

Will recommend this to all - and will definitely consider staying here again.

Recently came back from a trip to Singapore with my family. Booked at this hotel upon recommendation of my sister. Glad I heeded her advise. The YMCA International House is so conveniently located. It is walking distance to 2 MRT stations, Dhoby Ghaut and Bras Basah and there is a bus stop right in front, making it so convenient to move around Singapore. There are also about 3 7-11 stores in the vicinity, a kopitiam 2 block away along Bras Basah Rd., the SIngapore Museum right next door and the Asian Civilizations Museum and Peranakan Museum within walking distance. For Catholics, there are 3 churches within walking distance from the hotel and a Presbyterian church next door. The room rate includes a decent buffet breakfast but don't expect the variety of choices you normally find in a 3-star hotel. The spread is quite limited but tasty. We booked via the internet and this was done without any difficulty. If walking is your thing, Orchard Road is also easily accessible from the hotel. In fact, I walked Orchard Road twice from end-to-end and also went to Bugis Street shops on foot. The hotel rooms are simple but clean. Each room has a flat screen TV with a few international channels. A pity, we weren't able to try the swimming pool as we were always exhausted from the day's tour.

Fantastic hotel close to train station very clean with very helpful staff, we were able to leave our luggage until we departed late at night. There is a swimming pool which is fantastic and a cafe too. We were able to walk to many of the sites in Singapore . Our room was spacious and clean. Overall it was good value for money and the staff were so willing to help at all times.
