As the title states, this was our third stay as a couple at this property. My husband has also stayed on business and we highly recommended the hotel to my parents who have also had two very stays.
We booked a Pacific Club room with Pacific Club access. We arrived at around 10:00pm and went to reception, where we were intercepted by the Pacific Club staff who checked us in at the desk. On previous visits we were checked in in the lounge and offered a complimentary drink, but not this time.
We went to our room, carrying our own luggage, with no offer of a porter, which is strange for a five star hotel, but not really a problem. We decided that we were too tired to go out, so ordered room service from a very limited, and incredibly expensive room service menu, before going to sleep.
The next morning, we had a delicious breakfast in the Pacific Club while enjoying the stunning views. We then set out to explore and revisit Singapore. We returned to the hotel in time for afternoon tea in the Club and then went to our room at around 3:30pm to change to visit the pool. We were surprised to find that the room still had not been made up, even though we had switched the “make up room” sign on at 9:30am.

Upon visiting the renovated pool area, we were handed towels and left to find our own loungers. On our previous visits, we were always escorted to a lounger of our choice and the towel spread out and then we were given bottled water. No such service any more, I requested water from one of the pool waiters, and was told to “help yourself over there”. Again, not very five star! We then decided to have a cocktail. It was impossible to signal one of the waiters, so my husband went to the bar area and ordered two Mai Tais. They were not on the very limited cocktail menu, but we were assured that they could make them. Sadly, they couldn’t, a weird lemony drink arrived, not looking or tasting anything like a Mai Tai. We asked about the drinks and were told that the “didn’t have the right ingredients”. Shame we weren’t told that when ordering, and there was no offer of a refund or discount.
We enjoyed pleasant drinks in the lounge that evening, but were quite disappointed in the canape selection, it, along with the pool service had declined considerably.
The next day was similar except we ate out by the pool, again needing to place our own order as could not attract a staff member. Again, room not made up until 4:00pm. The final day, our checkout day, we ordered satay sticks by the pool. The dirty dishes were left in our cabana for four and half hours, even though pool staff walked by regularly. Presumably we are expected to return our own dishes too.
The final insult was requested a late checkout of four hours past the stipulated 2:00pm. The Pacific Club reception member admitted that the room was not required, but still insisted we pay half the room rate, which we did. This day they did not service the room at all, so we paid half rate for four hours of an unmade bed, and showered before our flight with damp towels.
Sadly, this is likely to be our last visit to Pan Pacific Singapore.More
