Watch Wicked the musical with my kids and wife. Show was great but was disturbed by the way the grand theater handled late comers and eating in the theater hall.
Was warned that late comers has to wait till intermission to enter which is common every where in the world but not here ! 15 minutes in to the show, groups of people are still being led in to the theater by the ushers. My view was block at least 3 times by late comers who was trying to move to the seats further in.
To cap it all, drinks and snacks were allowed in to the theater hall after intermission and the English mother 3 seats away from me was feeding her kids crisps and making all sort of noise opening the packets while Glinda was singing away on stage.
The theater was very thoughtful by providing some of these eaters a red stool to put their drinks and snacks on since they purchased these food from the bar. Hey they mights as well serve fried noddles inside and push the dim sum car along the aisle.
My experience was further frustrated by this pair of love birds that keep hugging each other in front of me that blocks my view to the stage as seats are arranged in a staggered manner. I told them to get a room and they moved to a pair of free seat further back to the hall after intermission.
I was shooed in La Scala when my wife was trying to talk to me during an opera performance and in general the crowd in Singapore doesn't know how to behave in a theater and was aided by the theater management.
All in all, this theater feels like a cinema and whoever is running it, runs it like a cinema.
