Having enjoyed dined here on our previous visit to Singapore in 2015, we decided to have an early lunch here on Thursday 15th November 2018. The place was just a five-minute walk from our hotel nearby.
We opted for nasi padang with chicken rendang, ikan asam pedas, brinjal, tapioca leaves, mixed vegetables, and vegetables fried with prawns. What was apparent this time round was that the flavours, especially the chicken rendang, were less spicy and less authentic than in 2015. The chicken did not seem to have been marinated well enough in the rendang sauce and the flesh seemed white and bland. The ikan asam pedas was mild and the spicy-sour flavour was less pronounced. The meal was less satisfying taste-wise and was a struggle to get through. We began to wonder if there had been a change in the cooks and chefs. The fresh lemon drinks were a pleasant thirst quencher.
