Have returned twice in the last months to indulge in Chef Goto's exquisite kaiseki experience...he will change his restaurant concept to semi casual dining with occasional kaiseki soon in November so if you want to try.. You have to go to Goto soon ( I do not have any link to this restaurant except as a happy customer...just in case you're wondering)
Food is beautifully presented and unusual. Despite being in Singapore,he brings in the delicacies of the season and presents them in their purest and yummiest form. There are 2 menus , varying in the number of courses and variety. I took the 180 menu each time, and both times we were delighted with the dishes. It starts with a variety of mini appetizers, then followed by a simple broth, one we had eel with an unusual algae / kelp which was both delicious and beautiful to look at, second time it was a melt in your mouth crab cake.
This is then followed by generous serving of sashimi ( including otoro, the 280 menu had a seriously large plate)
Grilled fish comes next, followed by a tempura dish...again delicately done and crisp with every bite.
Then the filler with the seasoned rice followed by a dessert trio and lastly wasabi mochi with a lovely bowl of green tea....
The restaurant is sweet and homely in decor, his wife and a second lady were the gracious hosts looking after about 20 diners for the evening.
You never feel rushed and each dish is served just so...
Lovely...pure...simple and yummy!
