Description: Indulge in the flavours of superb Japanese cuisine at Goto. It has garnered rave reviews owing mostly to the exquisite hand of Chef Hisao Goto, who was formerly a chef to Japanese ambassadors and diplomats.

Have returned twice in the last months to indulge in Chef Goto's exquisite kaiseki experience...he will change his restaurant concept to semi casual dining with occasional kaiseki soon in November so if you want to try.. You have to go to Goto soon ( I do not have any link to this restaurant except as a happy customer...just in case you're wondering)
Food is beautifully presented and unusual. Despite being in Singapore,he brings in the delicacies of the season and presents them in their purest and yummiest form. There are 2 menus , varying in the number of courses and variety. I took the 180 menu each time, and both times we were delighted with the dishes. It starts with a variety of mini appetizers, then followed by a simple broth, one we had eel with an unusual algae / kelp which was both delicious and beautiful to look at, second time it was a melt in your mouth crab cake.
This is then followed by generous serving of sashimi ( including otoro, the 280 menu had a seriously large plate)
Grilled fish comes next, followed by a tempura dish...again delicately done and crisp with every bite.
Then the filler with the seasoned rice followed by a dessert trio and lastly wasabi mochi with a lovely bowl of green tea....

The restaurant is sweet and homely in decor, his wife and a second lady were the gracious hosts looking after about 20 diners for the evening.
You never feel rushed and each dish is served just so...
Lovely...pure...simple and yummy!

a small, intimate restaurant that accomodates not more than 20, thus reservation is a MUST. dinner has 2 sets of menu, 180++ & 280++ per pax. Chef uses the purest ingredients served in the most exquisite way, overall it was a great kaiseki dining experience. definitely worth every dollar spent.

Made a reservation for lunch recently and my wife and I really liked the experience.

Reservations have to be made as I think they sit only 15 persons per meal.

The food arrived at our table at a nice slow pace that encouraged conversations. The food was really good and we also ordered a melon shoju or something like that that was very nice. Was wondering if the food was enough but we left the place feeling very full.

Quite an upmarket feel to the place and we'll come back for special occasions.

This is a nice quiet little place for an intimate lunch, the ambience is zen and clean. Meals are reliable and features quality seasonal supplies. Service is attentive and polite, very close to the real deal in Tokyo. You can expect chef Goto Hisao's wife greets you in her kimono. The 6-course lunch price have been holding at $68++ for a few years since they started business. This place has their fans and a great reputation. However my recent lunch here seems under whalming, except a dish of small sashimi, the rest were pre-steamed, pre-boiled or fried vegetables in predictable presentation, when I was expecting to be delighted by their extraordinary Kaiseki experience I have had before. The table wear also started to look tired, perhaps it is time to reinvent the business again!

Yet again, exquisite Japanese food. Fresh and delicious. Remember to to make reservations at least a few days in advance to ensure you get great food.
