HI Echa M
Appreciate your feedback. We have relocated to Marina Bay and no longer in the red building at Maxwell Road. Our current exhibition at the new museum is on the Red Dot Award winning design ideas from across the globe. And from Mar to Sep, we will be hosting the wallpaper handmade exhibitions. We also plan to increase the physical exhibits over the next few months. Hope you can visit us again then.
Accidentally came across this place just walking down the marina bay. Was really cheap and needed to get out the sun for an hour so fought what was there to lose, despite not really being my thing. Actually found it really interesting. The texts behind each piece were very short but informative so you can browse easily. Saw a lot of interesting ideas that got me thinking and was refreshingly laid back, factor this into your trip.
Glad you enjoyed the exhibition and thank you for recommending the museum! I hope the Red Dot Design Museum will be one of your places to visit the next time you travel to Singapore.
I love the idea of the The Red Dot Museum but the one in Singapore is very very disappointing and not worth the 6.- entry fee. More or las everything is only displayed as a picture , barely anything you can touch or experience . They have very little space and you are literally done in 10-15 Min. Then the shop has very little interesting things to buy as half the shop is in typical Singapore manner a cafe... sorry not worth the visit at all
I am sorry to disappoint you. Our current exhibition presents the latest design ideas that has won the Red Dot Design Awards. As they are concepts, we presented them in print along with the prototypes that were available.
We recognise that the museum shop requires more products that can appeal to all and are working hard on building up the collection. Thank you for the feedback, I hope it will be a better experience for you the next time you visit.
New iconic location for the Red Dot Museum near Marina Bay Sands, fantastic area outside to take in the views of the Singapore river and skyline. Inside, only the best of the best in design for your enjoyment. You can buy great gifts at the gift-shop from the friendly staff, food is unique, and don't miss out the fantastic lighting centerpiece, the Luceplan Mesh. Truly worth a visit.
Thank you for the encouraging words. I am glad you enjoyed the space. The Mesh lamps along with a number of other winning products are presented as part of a Special Exhibition, for visitors to enjoy a good designs beyond the museum galleries. I hope you find us a good hangout place and visit again soon.
The Red Dot Design Museum is definitely a place to visit when in Singapore. Located at the Marina Bay. It offers a refreshing insight to the design of consumer products. Will visit it again!
Hi Jon K
Thank you for the good review. I am glad you enjoyed the design exhibition! We will have different exhibitions throughout the year, hope you will visit us again soon.
Very interesting modern design museum having an unique style of its own. It has a retail shop with design award winning pieces. A must go to place to shop for one of a kind gifts; from jewellery, bags, home accessories to shoes! There's a bistro cafe under the same roof to chill out with must try bar food of local specialties! My personal favourite is the Chilli crab in a bowl with mantou (fried bun)! Also, laksa pasta! Yummy! Had a lovely chill out evening with an amazing view!
