When I travel, I always opt for the cool, boutique-y places where they pay real attention to design, good food and where the staff are allowed to have their own personality. Watercolors just simply ticks all these boxes.
Been to Boracay twice and those 2 times I stayed at Watercolors simply because their service and quality never disappoint!
*SERVICE – 5 out 5
Service is on point. The staff is very knowledgeable so you can always rely on them to give you good pieces of advice about the island. Always smiling, polite and conversational. Gretchen is the star of the team. She makes sure you are always looked after and even books excursions on your behalf when you’re there. You can also ask them to book transfers for you to and from the airport.
*LOCATION – 5 out of 5
We wanted somewhere quiet but still within walkable distance to the more happening areas of White Beach. Watercolors is perfectly located in Station 1 as it’s right in front of the beach near Willy’s Rock yet far away from the hundreds of tourists that hog the beach at Stations 2 and 3. You can enjoy both the quiet side and the nightlife of Boracay at Watercolors.
*ATMOSPHERE – 4 out of 5
It’s a boutique hotel as I mentioned and the room sizes are quite compact but the décor is very warm, sleek and modern. The stone wall in the bathroom is my favorite detail! Rooms are always clean and fresh and the hotel music is surprisingly good.
*FOOD – 5 out of 5
Now comes the good stuff. Been in the hospitality industry for years and we know for a fact that you can judge if a hotel is good if they have good coffee! Watercolors not only serves good coffee but they know food! Sadly, Boracay has a scarcity of restaurants that pay attention to good quality food, locally sourced produce and fresh ingredients. So when we were looking for a good seafood restaurant, we were quite disappointed and frustrated that the restaurants by the beach offer either overcooked, overpriced, or days old seafood!
Luckily, we asked the restaurant staff at Watercolors and they bought fresh seafood from the local market and cooked for us! We had lobsters, tiger prawns, fish and salmon – YUM!
Also, their Adobo is phenomenal!
