You should know you are not in a 5 start hotel but the place is clean, family room are huge.
Outdoor bathroom is great but stuff getting a bit old...
The place is just magic, you feel alone there, as on your private island.
View is beautiful, beach is also very nice even though water a bit muddy. But if you go to the jetty there is crystal blue water.
Dive center is a bot out of date but trying to improve.
Food is normal, just you get what you paid for.
Staff are very nice and helpful.
Varan lizard roaming around give you a taste of wild life adventure!

We, a family of 2+2 kids just had 3 restfull days at this little hideaway island off the East Coast of Java...Jakarta. Our information hunt was fair, although once we arrived at Ancol for boarding, nothing was too hard for the staff. A confy fast trip with warm sunshine, cool morning breeze and thankfully calm waters had us at Kotok Isl in 90 min, to be greeted with smiles, a free traditional head dress and the best coconut milk drink ever. Personally greeted by an effervescent Island Manager, Linda, and given helpful information, how to do and get what we personally required, island map and and a personal tour to our bungalow to see our bags already delivered and waiting.

As a nature friendly island, this is not a power consuming rubbish and noise producing island getaway location, so if you want typical luxuries, do not go. But, if you desire a mostly undisturbed forest and beach environment, little to no noise except those of the native critters, (and generator which is well muffled), clear clean water, coral reefs and fishies to snorkel or scuba dive with, a safe lagoon for the less enthusiastic swimmer or learner, hammocks, etc etc, as one would expect from a tropical island, this is a must do trip.

Our price included boat transport/return, all accommodation, good and varied food, with only the activities to pay for if you so desire. Dive and snorkel hire shop, mini store, bar area, first aid with reception office, canoes, wind surfer, beach chairs, etc, and some so fine clean white sand. Diving visibility is ok but not brilliant, although the 2 kids loved learning to snorkel and seeing the colourful fish and reef was their highlight.

There are many different types of accommodations and features, although as a nature loving nudists, we stayed in the only no walled no AC private beach pole and bamboo 2 story bungalow on the far side of the 21h island, with running water /power/lights/fans etc, just perfect.

Ok, it is an older resort, and an island, so don't expect super clean as the sand just gets in, but once all the ongoing improvements and renovations are completed and with volley ball/Badminton courts moved to a safer area, it will be one of the best of the natural locations so close to Jakarta. All bungalows are furnished sparsely, but even island style bean bags and or watching the gentle waves from our PRIVATE beach and camp fire was just bliss.

During the quieter week days, with a little of your own common sense and approval from management, wandering around nude all day is bliss, as was the Friday of our stay, although, the Sat/Sun was with discretion on our part but still mostly nude and happy.
Early check in/late out and again our bags were efficiently whisked back to the boat while we attended the reception to settle our bill and extras. Then we were all farewelled by a smiling waving pier full of staff wishing us a safe journey. Back to Ancol Harbour and we were away home after a wonderfull 3 days in Paradise.

Room Tip: The best view is the tree house, the best bungalow is 7A/B but express your needs and they will be met.

This island is one of the thousand islands, about one and a half hours out of Jakarta. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, right from the pick up at the harbour. They were totally organised and ready for us and willing to help with anything. This terrific service continued throughout our stay.

The beach was not great, a bit of rubbish from the sea, and very little sand. The food was fully catered and good with lots of delicious seafood. I would advise you get to the meals early as they do get cold in the warming trays.

The room was basic but nice and clean with an adjoining bathroom.

You could go diving or snorkling, but we didn't try this.

I did enjoy my stay but as I like to do more than lie on a beach, I wouldn't go back. The strength of Alam Kotok for me was the terrific staff.

The small island of Kotok was quiet, relaxing, and beautiful. The staff was wonderful and the food and fresh fruit juices were delicious. From the marina in Jakarta we traveled by fast boat, 1-1/2 hours, to the island - a popular spot for snorkeling and diving. This is the ideal place to get away from it all. I will always remember beautiful Kotok Island.
