“Peaceful and Isolated”
Reviewed 18 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

My geography was a bit out with this beautiful property, as I thought it was closer to some key places. (First visit to Bali) However….if you are after a relaxed and completely away from it all holiday, then this is the place. It is very clean, air-conditioned in bedrooms, tidy and attractive spacious grounds, clean pool, (almost too warm due to the hot weather). The staff clean everyday and the place was immaculate.

Lovely staff ladies, Made and Kutut, will offer food and massages but please remember to bring cash to pay as there are no local ATM or shops or credit card facilities. Meals are around $4.50 AUS per person, and they are delicious. Bring your own food for snacks, ie toast for breakfast. Drinking water is supplied. Laundry is included in the price and appears smelling clean and fresh. There is not much here to do except lounge around. There are some books in English but mostly dutch, (as owners are dutch). As it is quite isolated, bring your own books and maybe some games. I would recommend to the owners to have some board games, pack of cards and maybe some DVDS that work…. would be a bonus.

Went for some local walks and the landscape is very traditional Bali rice fields. You don’t see gangs of tourists around here! The local beach is a hot walk away or one of the staff will organize hire of a scooter. The beach is not really that nice as it is polluted. The roads are quite potholed but not busy. We mainly stayed at the house. You can organsie Wayan, the manager, to drive you on day trips, it is about 40 minutes to Tanah Lot Temple and about 80 minutes from Seminyak. Wayan speaks reasonable English however Made and Kutut do not, although you get by on smiles and gestures. No internet here, so bought a sim card to go into my ipad. Mostly okay to receive.

As the other reviewer said the prayer call at 6am and then recorded calls at 12pm and at around 6pm were annoying so bring some ear plugs so as not to be woken up. If it was just one bell, not so bad, but it moaned on a bit too much and spoiled the ‘serenity’ that was so attractive about this place.

This place would be great for a small group of family or friends who enjoy a relaxing environment. Beside the wake up prayer call the place is gorgeous but very isolated. You will not be socializing with other guests or shopping at a local market as it is a standalone house.

The owner Germaine was incredibly supportive and helpful for any questions.

“Relaxing location with rustic charm”
Reviewed 19 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed at Kelapa Biru (Blue Coconut, named for the sea and the trees) for five nights. The staff - Made & Ketut, who cooked our meals at reasonable set prices payable each evening as required (no need for us to buy groceries as pre-arranged, post-paid basics were also ready for us on arrival), washed our clothes when needed and kept the house clean and tidy, Wayan the gardener who keeps the grounds in immaculate condition and acts as night watchman in a separate building on site and (a second) Wayan the manager and tour guide, who took us on a couple of day trips to destinations of our choosing and is very knowledgable about Bali and its inhabitants, were all very friendly and helpful.

We spent a fair amount of time in the elevated bale, relaxing and enjoying the views across the neighbouring rice fields to the sea in the distance.

The main dwelling consists of three bedrooms (two are air-conditioned), each of which has direct outside access to the separate bathroom and outdoor dining/living area. There are many outdoor seating options including loungers and the in-ground pool is suitable for all ages.

We’re light sleepers so the local dawn canine chorus and 6am call to prayer were unexpected alarm clocks. Choosing to stay in the country has many advantages over the hustle and bustle of the city and except for sight-seeing there was no need to leave the villa.

Thanks to Sylvia and her staff for making our stay an enjoyable one!
