We stayed there for 3 nights. It is a nice tibetan hotel. The rooms are colorful and equipped with original tibetan furniture.

It is convenient located on the very city center of the old town.

Some notes: step stairs, room doors don't close fully so you hear people from outside (you can lock them of course), can get cold in the night, bring warm clothing, oxygen is available at the reception (we did not need it, we felt very good, no hight issues), water bottles are cheap at the reception

One thing that makes it outstanding: it has one of the best restaurants in Tibet. We are there several times, much better than many of the restaurants around.

We travelled in Tibet for nearly 3 weeks and used Lhasa as our base. We spent several nights in House of Shambala and found it very pleasant. Rooms a beautifully decorated, the rooftop terrace is great! Showers are ok, hard to adjust, but fine. Breakfast could be much better. They serve exactly the same each day: yoghurt, fruit, muesli, steamed bun, marmalade, honey, eggs, tsampa, and coffee/tea.

Our stay at HOS was very pleasant indeed, the staff are extremely friendly, speak a decent amount of English and are able to accommodate to most needs. The hotel itself was clean, and provided all the essentials, including a good Wi-Fi connection. Although breakfast was slightly short on choice, there was the option of a fry up every morning, muesli, fresh fruit, toast and traditional dishes. The location was great for those who want to really experience Lhasa as a local. We really enjoyed our stay!

It is good to try this restaurant because in unique interior in Tibetan style. The menu is very interesting and in English. Food is very good but not the best in Lhasa. We order chicken masala and chicken tikka and the chicken was a bit hard but we ate everything with great Roti and naan bread.
We recommend to try this place!

The House of Shambhala is tucked inside the old city of Lhasa and is just a short walk from the Barkhor. Cars are not allowed on the narrow streets of this part of the city so staff met us curb side on Beijing Rd. to assist with luggage. We entered the serene courtyard through an entrance lined with prayer wheels. This little, boutique hotel features beautiful, Tibetan architecture and interiors throughout. The old world atmosphere is complimented by gracious staff, modern conveniences and a restaurant
that serves excellent food. We felt that it was a very good value with moderate pricing and of course the atmosphere was just what we were looking for.

Room Tip: Each room is unique and staff assists with luggage so staying on upper floors isn't an issue.
