Very authentic reproduction. Lovely place to take photos even in the rain when few visitors are there. Tip - go across the street and visit that park as well, and try the vegitarian restaurant.

Visit is best teamed with a visit to the Nan Lin Gardens which is connected via a flyover. A gem of it's own though.
For photographer, no photos inside the temples itself but photos are allowed of the garden complex.

Such a beautiful place and it is immaculately kept.

We went there on a rainy day and we were surprised at how beautiful it still was, the mood of the place was peaceful since it was lacking in visitors on this rainy day and it all made the place feel very ZEN and calm.

Well worth a visit and try to go at quiet days (weekdays/rainy days).

Our favorite place in Hong Kong. Relaxing, beautiful and amazing place to slow down in the fast city. Restaurant is excellent

TripAdvisor should really merge the Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden listings into a single listing as they are connected to one another. I can't imagine you'd see one and skip the other.

However, if I'm to speak just of the nunnery, than I'll say that it's a lovely little oasis that doesn't take long to walk around. As far as I could tell, there are two large courtyards that the public has access too. The first contains four ponds and plenty of manicured shrubs and is filled with the sound of running water and birds chirping. The second has several Buddist shines off the walkway around the edges, and the faint scent of incense wafts into the air from these. Some of these shrines are in rooms with large numbers of prayer cushions in them, so I imagine if you get there at the right time, you can see the nuns in prayer. When I was there, recorded chants were being played over a PA system, which was quite soothing, I have to say.

As an added bonus, the nunnery has quite a large gift shop with some nice items that are a departure from the usual Hong Kong market trinkets.
