I made the mistake of coming around 14:00 on
a Friday just after prayers and it was packed.
I would suggest to try and avoid coming at this time. Too busy. After waiting for fifteen minutes, I got a seat on a table that I shared with others. You will most likely have to share a table. As the name suggests, like a canteen type place. Reasonably clean. Noisy, busy and chaotic but a fun environment! Huge menu from dim sum to noodles and more. I am Muslim and hence came. Portions are big. I went for the rice noodles with braised beef in soup (small). There is a choice of small and large. The small was big, generous and filling. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Very cheap. The soup itself was spicy which I didn't mind but a little oily and some of the cuts of beef were fatty. They could have added more beef as well. The soup came out quickly. It didn't taste like it was freshly made and piping hot as I expected. If your Muslim, looking for a cheap eat and something simple and ordinary, then I would recommend going. I would also suggest ordering a variety of dishes if you are with others and sharing. You can then try more things. As a solo diner, I couldn't do it!

Came for breakfast around 10 plus in the morning for halal dim sum. You’ll be given a green card for you to bring along and place your order at the dim sum pushcart. The server will ask for your order and update the cart immediately as well as serve your dim sum order.

Dim sum was delicious and hot. Portion was good too. Recommended to share so that you’ll get to taste as many dim sum as possible. Price was reasonable and they accept credit card payment too besides cash.

Islamic Centre Canteen is strategically located in the Wan Chai area, not too far from the main street. One could take the Ding Ding from any part of the Hong Kong Island to savour halal food here.

The canteen, which in fact a restaurant is located on the 5th Floor of the Masjid Ammar and Osman Ramju Sadick. The restaurant serves typical halal south Chinese cuisine.

I visited the restaurant twice for lunch. The first time I had the beef noodle soup and on the second visit, 3 types of dim sum.

The food, especially the noodle was really good and the price reasonable. For Muslim visitors to Hong Kong this is god sent.
