Owner description: This historic street market on the city's serene south coast is as popular with locals as it is with tourists. Go here for souvenirs like lacquerware, embroidered tablecloths, prints and paintings.

Having reviewed Stanley itself, this deals mostly with the market. Much smaller than I anticipated, but nicely laid out and super clean and people most friendly. More art that I expected and some neat stuff and enjoyed looking at that. In fact got hooked in on a few items and sellers were quick to cut prices even before we started to bargain.

All covered for the most part so on a rainy day, it wasn't the end of the world.

Picked a local restaurant to eat just behind the first row of stalls, can't remember name but I think it mentioned Thai food and very good and more than reasonable . Wait staff very cool and all dressed in black and super large portions.

Walked along the coast front, to Murray House, and part of new mall, a bit confusing in layout. Some upscale trendy restaurants, but glad we picked the one we did.

The a short walk back to the bus and the trip back to the north side of Hong Kong island.

A day trip worth taking and if in Hong Kong, and time, I feel a must.

We visited here with not a lot of expectation but was pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed walking the aisles negotiating for purchases. There not a great deal to do but there’s many places to stop and get a cold drink and a spot of lunch. Worth the visit if you want a day packed with less to do.

I went to Stanley market as part of a tour and we also took in the peak. I did not have high expectations but enough stalls and shops to look and negotiate pricing - Stanley itself is new with a prom, new mini shopping centre was really nice to spend a couple of hours but no more.

It doesn’t take long to walk around the flea market, so is a bit of a long way to go for a market selling the same sort of things they sell elsewhere in HK. However, the journey from Central via the number 6 bus is very scenic, going up and over the hill out of town. Stop at Repulse bay on the way and have a wander on the beach then continue on the next bus. Stanley Plaza has a nice ice cream shop which also sells waffles and brownies.

Mostly local products are sold in the market. There are a number of fake bags too.
The place is ok.
The market is only accessible by bus #63 or 65. I suggest get an Octopus card for convenience
