Last Summer the Hong Kong Museum of Art temporarily closed its doors to visitors as it enters a long period of major renovation and expansion works.
At present there is not a definite reopening date but it will likely be Summer 2019 or later before visitors can enjoy the main Hong Kong Museum of Art museum at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade again.
During the interim, visitors can still visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art - Flagstaff House and Teaware Museum at Hong Kong Park.
Additionally, the museum intends to continue to provide exhibitions and to make some of the permanent collection available for viewing at various venues around Hong Kong and overseas. However, there is no exhibition schedule on their website as of yet. This will likely change in the next year or so.
If you want to read or learn more about the Museum Transformation project, simply visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art Museum website which remains running and functional.
