Owner description: The museum has been closed for around three years for a major renovation and expansion project, beginning 3 August 2015. By 2019, we will herald a brand new look to Tsim Sha Tsui.

We went through some trouble to visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art, only to find it closed for renovations. A staff member outside told us that renovations would take three years. It would have been nice if that had been mentioned on various Hong Kong tourist sites.

So after seeing many mediocre or worse reviews I just decided to forget it! I'll go sightsee instead!

It's been one of those things that sit there in plain view, and while you live there you never go inside, because there'll be another day - until you move away.
The exhibition showed thousands of years of pottery. But I don't know whether this was a temporary exhibition or permanent. Like anything else in Hong Kong part of the building was under renovation or reconstruction, so just a few rooms were available.
There was an arts shop attached to the museum in 2012, which was not there anymore in 2015. Now the rooms are occupied by something Chinese.
You need time to visit the place, and an understanding of Chinese.
It's good for a rainy day, but you still need to cross a stretch of open area.

A must for art lovers. Permanent exhibtions and themed displays accommodate people of different ages and tastes. Closed temporarily for renovation.
