The view up here is pretty spectacular, but when you are dropped off by bus, it's not at all obvious where to go. We spent a good 20 minutes wandering around wondering what we were missing. You do have to pay about 50 HK$ to get up to the best viewing platform, but there are other points around with a pretty good view. We had to wait an hour to get a bus back down, and that was 10 at night. The man running the queue mysteriously let some queue jumpers in who'd been waiting for taxis. The queue for the tram looked worse. I think it was a particularly busy day to be fair, but still pretty galling. There are plenty of loos and places to eat.

We paid for the tram only and went to the pizza restaurant. Spent saved money on two cocktails and got just as good view.

The day before we boarded our SE Asia Cruise, our friends and I decided to take a half day trip and taxi up to The Peak. It was a 20 minute ride up and we did it at 10:00 AM so we had no time pressure to return. As the taxi dropped us off in the parking area, we noticed that it was very cool, damp, overcast with zero sun, so it was a good thing that we had jackets and hoods with us, we needed them.
As we started our journey along Peak Road, which goes completely around the peak, we passed a lovely little restaurant and saw quiet a number of people enjoying breakfast, so we grabbed some coffee as well. The paved street/road was nice and wide, and there were a number of people going in both directions. People were walking, running, jogging, biking and a few families were playing in some of the park areas on gym equipment.
As you walk down the street, you can't help but notice the old mansions, some in disarray and some being renovated to the max. These are very expensive homes as we found out later in the day. All along, the views are constantly changing and beautiful. Then you get to an area where the entire city of Hong Kong opens up before your eyes, and you get to see both side of the city, the river, the buildings, convention center...it is magnificent! What a view!
As I said earlier, we had a very overcast day, so our pictures were not that great, but they were still awesome.
We walked the PEAK for a good two hours and then decided to take The Peak Tram down to the city for our trip back to our hotel for lunch. The tram wait was about 20 minutes and was jammed packed when we got in to our tram car. It takes about 10 minutes for the tram to get all the way down to the city and was very scenic along the way. Of course the perspective was a little a-screwed because of the trams angle on the descent, but it was very cool.
This is a must-do activity if you are in Hong Kong! Loved the day!

We took the tram up and even though the queue was Long but still it is worth the wait! We should have book the tickets thru Klook. The tram ride was fun as it pull us up to the TOP. We wanted to catch the perfect sunset and obviously we could not do that on the peak itself as it was flooded with many other people. We took the hike around the peak which was about 2.8km and we were rewarded with the best sunset experience in Hong Kong! It was an easy hike which took us 40 minutes to complete! It was the most satisfying feeling we had the best sunset view to enjoy!

Amazing views from top of the Peak. If the Peak tram is too busy, just take the bus (bus stop 10 min walk away from Peak terminus). No hassle and cheap to reach, and you can always take the tram back - it's generally not very busy coming down! For most of the buildings, you can't even see the foot of the building + on a clear day you can see for miles over the city.
